Any idea why my key fobs are killing the batteries after a matter of days (less than a month)? Happens with both of them I have. 2016. I have been going through a twelve-pack of batteries every year and it is really stupid!

First I've ever heard of it. They're stock key fobs and not aftermarket? Are you turning the headlights off on the fobs every night?

Go to dealer service and they will check the connections between the fobs and truck.

Or you may have bought wrong kind of batteries.

I have original batteries in fobs since 2018 but my truck is a 2017.

    Is your truck push button?
Do you park in a garage or leave your keys close to the truck at night?

I watched a video on a a battery parasitic draw. It was on a highlander. The tech said, in order to proceed with the diagnostic, you had to have the keys quite a always from the vehicle. If not, the key fob and truck would be in “communication”. And some of the system modules wouldn’t shut down.

I wouldn’t think this would drain a key fob. But you never know?
    It’s worth a shot?

The only time I have ever had a similar problem the FOB was broken eating the battery. Since both of yours are doing it, I doubt that's it. I'm having trouble seeing what else it could be though.

You could try deactivating one FOB by double pressing the buttons and see if that changes anything.

How many times have you run your keys through the washing machine?

Yes, factory fobs. Both of them. Wondering if something in the truck is staying on drawing the rfid hard?

Yes, push button. Parked probably 75 feet away from where I store keys. How far away should they be? I know if keys are in the drawer I cannot open door on truck.

Never washed them. I can't recall ever getting them damp though pocket in rain even.

I would think that if the doors wound unlock.
That would be far enough a way.

Maybe the dealership has some way of monitoring the Fob?
I am at loss where to go from here?

    Like, so many.
Ok, this may be dumb, but could you try putting them in a faraday bag to make sure they aren't connecting to the truck? I just checked and they are like $15 on Amazon.

I'm starting to wonder if some other (non Tacoma) environmental factor is activating the rfid to turn the key "on", like the grocery store or bank next door??? I may try storing them in a faraday cage to keep them out of sight unless in the truck.

My 2011 remote still has the same batteries. Do you do a lot of short trips? Stuck button?

No need for the bag, just turn off the FOB.

"deactivate (switch off) your key fob, Hold down the Lock button and at the same time press the unlock button twice. The red light on your key fob will flash 4 times and mean your key fob is now switched off."
