2008 DBL Cab, TRD - About two months ago I noticed my doors sometimes would not lock using the fob. At least not right away. I would have to press and press and then it would work. It was intermittent. I figured it was the fob battery. I finally replaced the battery but the problem did not go away. The scenario is: I arrive somewhere, shut off the engine, get out, push lock, nothing happens, push again, back and forth lock-unlock, nothing, finally after about 5-10 seconds it locks/unlocks. This doesn't happen every time I go somewhere, I don't know why. Maybe sometimes I stay in the truck longer after turning off the key and getting out. I'm not sure. It doesn't matter if I am standing beside the truck or in front.

After this delay, the fob will actuate the locks back and forth with no problem. Even from 10-20 yards away. I've even tried pressing unlock first, that doesn't do anything. The system acts like there is some sort of time-out function preventing the locks from actuating right away.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Randy

sorry, I have no help for you, but on my 2008 the locks would sometimes lock without me pressing the button. Twice I had the fob left on the seat when I was outside the truck and it locked me out of the vehicle. That caused colorful language :(

Get another fob. We see freq. walk and or button issues. Would be my first choice of action.

Well I tried my other fob and the same thing occurs. There is some sort of time out going on that will not let the system act for about ten seconds after the ignition is turned off. After that, it acts every time a fob button is pressed with no issues. Arrggg!!!

This has happened to me also on my '15 Tacoma. After about 10 to 15 seconds it works every time. It doesn't do it every time but maybe 1 out 3 times and it started about 4 to 6 weeks ago. I thought that I needed to change the battery but that did not help. I am using a flip key and that is most likely my problem. I am going to try a different fob for a while starting today and see what happens.

No aftermarket remote-start or alarm. (Sorry for the late response, I'm not getting email notices)

I have no answer for you. I tried 3 different trucks today and my own and instant lock.
Could be a software glitch. Hard to say.
    Sorry.
