Key fob controller from other models

Hello all. I have a 08 taco with power locks, but no fob system. I saw the posts where one should be if I had one and there is a empty plug there. Finding a used receiver cheap to try out is tricky. Has anyone tried another model (sienna or 4Runner) receiver to see if they would work?

 

I had the same situation with my 2015 base model.

I found the receiver part number from some manual online, found the receiver on ebay (~$45) via the part #. Pretty sure it was listed for a corolla but worked fine in my truck.

I would have checked the # on the receiver for ya but I sold the truck last year.

Gotta keep and eye out for the tacomaworld part outs!

 

I appreciate it. I have seen several for Sienna's online cheap, but the Taco's are an arm and a leg lol. I figured one yota part should work in another yota.
