So Ive noticed in the last week or so that my key fob isnt performing the way it used. By this I mean the remote lock/unlock function. It has always worked from a relatively far distance, easily up to 100'. In the winter I like to walk to my back window in the morning and use it for remote start so that the truck is warm when I get out there.

Recently I tried this and it wasnt working. I assumed the batteries were just getting low. So I tried my spare fob and it didnt work either. I thought it to be a coincidence that both batteries were simultaneously getting low, but since I never use the spare fob those batteries are well over 3 years old and so I thought might have gotten tired.

Today I went and bought new batteries and put it in. It didnt improve the situation really at all. I have to be within about 3' of my truck to get the lock/unlock buttons to work. When I go to open my door, I practically have to put my hip on the door to get the sensor to pick up the signal.

Obviously, this isnt the way it is supposed to be. Anybody else had this problem? Is the receiver going bad? Where is the receiver? Other ideas?

Just got the batteries this morning and I am at work, so no. But I plan on replacing the spare one when I get home.

Hopefully that’s it, I don’t have the knowledge to answer your other questions. My next step would be to tell the service guy I’ll be in the lobby when your done.

FYI - You can turn your spare fob off, so battery doesn't drain when stored. Google it, explains how to do so.

Have you opened the fob to check for moisture or condensation?
