Ok so this is in my corolla and not my Tacoma but they have almost idntical keys so i am just wondering if anyone with a 3rd gen or other toyota product has experianced this.

So the other day i went out to get in my corolla with is push button and noticed that it said key not detected. I thought that is weird. Pulled the key out and pushed buttons and got nothing. So i opened my truck fob took the battery out and put it in the corolla fob just to test. Car started right up, dead battery= problem solved. So i went to the store and go a couple of new batteries to replace the one from the truck and also have a spare. I went like 3 or 4 places Sunday after i changed the battery. So Monday morning rolls around and i get in the truck to go to work and luck would have it the battery is dead again in the fob. I though well huh maybe my truck battery was close to going and it just died by some weird coincidence. so i replaced the corolla fob battery again with the spare i got from the store and went to work and got back home. Well then went out to get in the car this morning and again it is dead or very weak. I can still emergency start the car by holding the fob up to the button and then stating it with the fob pressed on the button. So i moved the car in the garage and drove the truck to work today.

Anyone had this happen? Or know what could be causing this issue? This has never happened in the 2 1/2 years I've owned the car. My spare got lost on the trail so my only other option would be to pull down my pants and let Toyota stick me with the $400 replacement.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked the board? Could be a short or a component burnt out causing it to drain the battery? Just spitballing here, but it's worth a look over the other options.

Yea bird looks ok. Battery literally goes from 100% to dead in less than 24 hours

Gotta be a small short somewhere in the fob. Unless you got a bad pack of batteries
