several months ago, my key would not unlock my truck. pushing the button or grabbing the handle didn't; work. That lasted about a day, and by the time I got to the dealer it was just fine. (of course). Since then, it has happened intermittently. Now, however, it is constant. I have nearly 40k miles and the dealer wants to charge some ridiculous amount just to look at it. I have tried everything I can think of....battery, hold both buttons down, smash, throw, yell, you name it. Also my TPMS won't show up or lights up during the same periods of key not working. Has anyone else had this issue? I hope not, but also hope so. Any advice would be appreciated.

Why would they charge to look at it?
Would that not be a warranty issue?

40k miles, no warranty. Find a different dealer.

I agree, they haven't been super helpful. Plus I've had other electrical issues. When I first got the truck, every time I braked, turn signal came on. Took them 20 days at the shop to fix, ever since it was new, if it rains the radio reboots.

I've searched everywhere I can think of and haven't found one other person with the same issues.

Weiss in St. Louis has always taken care of me.My LX570 is out of warranty and my xm module went out, Lexus wanted $580, $420 for the radio and $160 to install. I purchased the new one from Weiss, same module, and they installed it,$190 total.

Dealer should at least look at it and diagnose. If it takes a long time to diagnose they usually have a charge but to just look at it, it should be free.

Have you done any electrical mods at all?
If not, you should find another dealer. With being so close to warranty out due to mileage, a good dealership could get it covered under goodwill.

Edit: just saw your previous post saying you have electrical issues before. If those are documented, there should be no issue getting it covered under warranty. Usually in a situation like that, we make a call to the manufacturer and explain what happened and how its so close to warranty, and they will almost always cover it. It really helps if you have not done any mods.

I bet the dealer jacked something up when they were fixing your 20 day electrical problem

they had to replace the entire dash panel, not sure what that involved, but the odometer could not be moved so they could order a new one with the same mileage. Ill take it back to them Monday and see what happens

Start a claim with corporate. They should take care of it as its documented prior to the warranty expiring.

just curious, does anyone know how the tpms is tied in with the key fob? I assume there is a radio receiver that connects to all radio transmissions throughout the truck. I think they are connected somewhere, but I just can't find where!

My personal black out Pro shift knob TRD exhaust TRD CAI Bed Extender.
The computer is shared with the tpws and the smart key in this new version. Is located under the headliner in the rear of the truck I believe.

This has happened to me a couple times, both times my fob was in my pocket under my cell phone. Moved, and detected instantly
