IMG_7589.jpg IMG_7588.jpg hey guys, newbie here. just bought a 2004 V6 a few weeks ago. they hadn't used the fob in awhile. it was originally her truck and she remembers the remote working before. she passed it down to her dad a few years ago and he doesn't remember why he stopped using it. she gave me the fob w a new battery in it, but it's not working. the red light comes on when I push the buttons, but no effect on the truck. the power locks are working. anybody have any ideas as to what may be going on? I've dug around here and have seen a few threads on replacing missing fobs or adding a system w a module and remote, but nothing on a remote that seems functional and not working? should I just buy a replacement? btw, that procedure to add the remote looks absolutely insane!! how psycho do you have to be to even think of something that elaborate and complicated?? appreciate any help or insight. thanks!!

thanks, but I already saw this one. I have the remote. just was asking if anyone had any ideas of why it wouldn't be working anymore or what I could do to make it work again. do the modules ever go bad or is it most likely a bad remote?

When I openned the case the two surface mounted push buttons were dislodged. I
crudely soldered them back on the circuit board. It didn't last long.

Check the battery while your at it.
