For about the past year, I've had trouble with using the key fob to lock/unlock my doors. I've changed the battery in the key fob with no luck. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. Does anyone know where I can locate whatever it is that receives the signal sent by the key fob?

Do you have a second fob to test with to ensure its not the fob itself? If not, before trying to locate the receiver, I'd head to a parts store like autozone that has one of the testers. They're meant for battery replacement but it receives signal from your fob just like the receiver in your truck. When you press the button the tester should illuminate indicating it received signal from your fob.

My fob that I've been using daily for the past several years works fine but from time to time I have to mash the unlock button for it to respond. I replaced the battery and still have the same issue. I tried my 2nd fob and dertermined the main fob I use is just getting worn. Unlock button just isn't as sensitive as it used to be.

No, I've misplaced the 2nd fob. I guess I could buy a new one and try to figure out how to program it. I have used the auto zone tester and it indicates that my fob works fine.

Hey folks, I ordered a new fob from Amazon. It worked! Simple programing instructions too. Thanks for the advice!

**A bad FOB can blow the program connection between the Tacoma Receiver and FOB(s)** The fix is to reprogram FOBs to Tacoma Receiver!!!

Another item to check when FOBs stop working. On my 2011, a FOB went bad so I checked my (new) spare FOB and it also didn't work. I (incorrectly) presumed it would have to be the fault of the Receiver in the truck. I followed steps of disconnecting the battery to reset everything. It did not help thus I continued (incorrectly) presuming the fault to be the receiver.

I fortunately decided to attempt reprogramming my two FOBs after installing new batteries in each. The new spare programed fine; the old original would not reprogram - 6 attempts & 6 failures.

Turns out that a bad FOB can blow the program connection between Receiver and FOB(s). The (thankful) end result was to replace my original FOB with a new spare!

On my 2015 truck the FOB receiver board was completely missing. That might explain it... and it explains why someone jacked a 3rd part alarm system into this truck before I bought it last year. I'll paste here again if it fixes me. Will take me a while to get the part.
