My 2020 TRD Pro is capable of remote starting with the key fob without using Connected Services. I had an issue yesterday. Truck had been sitting all day in the TN heat and humidity at one of my schools that I service. Hauled my second load of equipment out to the truck. Unlocked the shell and tailgate, then used the key fob to start the truck to cool it down. Loaded my gear into the back and shut the tailgate and shell. Reached my hand onto the door handle. Truck unlocks but does NOT shut off like its supposed to. Uh oh, this is not going to be good. I pressed the start/stop button to shut off the engine. It shut off and would not restart. I got out and used the fob to lock/unlock the doors. I tried to start engine with the fob, it wouldn’t start. Tried multiple combinations and no start. Due to the heat, tiredness, and frustration, I don’t know everything I tried. At this point, the truck is stuck with the ignition on and won’t start. I finally pulled the battery ground of about 15 seconds. When I reconnected, the ignition was still on, but I was able to put it in and out of gear and then shut off ignition. Then, was able to restart like normal.
Has anyone else have this happen to them? If so, how did you reset everything? Any ideas why this happened?
To say I love my truck is an understatement. If anyone suggests I sell it to them, you can have it when you can pry it from my cold dead hands. And then, you'll have to fight my son-in-law for it.

My 16 does not have remote start, but I changed my fob battery and the fob started acting flakey locking and unlocking. Checked the batteries with a voltmeter. Finally I cleaned the metal connectirs where the coin battery sits and the fob now works great. Worth a try to check, good luck tracking down the problem.

Created an account finally just so that I could reply and confirm this is an issue I experienced at the end of July. I had the tailgate open, started truck with fob and was surprised when the truck didn’t shut off when i opened the door. Not thinking, I put the car in drive and it immediately shut off and wouldn’t start up again. Was stranded for 20 minutes trying to get it to turn over but it wouldn’t even try. I kept getting “check charging system” and check engine light. Finally started up randomly after the 20 minutes. I washed it up to that I got the cars computer out of order maybe when I did it with the tailgate open. I’m just not using the feature anymore, especially since it shuts off the car when you open the door anyways (lame).

The reason I found this thread is because I got home yesterday to find my trucks battery dead only after 56 hours without it running and wasn’t sure if there is any correlation. 8 month old truck (7k miles), no accessories pulling a parasitic draw, battery tested good. I would think it’s just coincidence but I did get the battery alarm for both issues.
