    Hey all,
My 2012 SR5 stopped beeping when my door is ajar. I have original battery which I plan on changing out soon. Sometimes when I open the door I will get one random beep and then it stops. Any idea what the problem is ? This started a few weeks ago. Tia

Are you talking about when you turn off the truck, leave your keys in the ignition, and open the door? If so, with the door open, wiggle the ignition key around and see if you can get it to beep and not beep. If so, your ignition lock cylinder is worn out and needs replaced.

Does your interior light still come on? Wondering if your door switch is on the way out.

Mine did this the other day thought it was odd. I was actually happy it stopped, and hoped it was permanent but it has since started back again.

Looks like the dinger or buzzer (like Toyota calls it) is inside the instrument cluster (according to diagrams).
Smack the top of your cluster and see if the dinging comes back.

Not sure if the noise comes from the speaker or not, but if it does it could be a bad speaker

Thanks for the replies, my interior light works when the door opens so I will mess around with the buzzer and if nothing I will thank the Tacoma gods as mentioned lol.

Also I tapped on the ignition and tinkered around the cluster that made the buzzer increase to 5 beeps and than stop. Thinking it’s just the end of the buzzers life. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t heading for a bigger issue ty

Try this. Key in the ignition. Key turned off. Drivers door open. Try to lock the doors. Either manually or with the door lock switch. If you are successful in locking them, it's the ignition lock cylinder worn out. If the locks immediately unlock after you lock them, it's the beeper.

When things are working correctly, it's impossible to lock your keys in the truck if they are in the ignition and the ignition is turned off.

So... the door immediately unlocked when I tried to lock it. However for the first time in weeks the beeper was also working. It was acting up less than an hour ago. If and when the buzzer situation Arises again I will try what you said. Hopefully it is just the buzzer. Thank you muddin... to be continued
