No worries man I appreciate the link. It does look like on page 595 that is you have an automatic with a smart key you can turn off the open door buzzer.

I read that as only being on vehicles with the smart keys. Manual transmission trucks still have a normal key.

I noticed the tint guy when I was in his shop last week took a ink pen and tripped the latch on the edge of the door to stop the dinging while he tinted my windows. You might pull your door panel off and check for wires going to the latch. That is all I know to tell you.

Yeah, you should be able to turn it to its lowest setting. Every Toyota I've owned going back to 1998 allowed me to use my TechStream program to customize the door chime/key chime. Like said above, you can only turn it down.

They always seem to come from the factory at its loudest setting. Turning it to low is pretty tolerable.

This is a good trick. I did it on my 1996 Tacoma (with a piss poor interior light). The only problem with it is the interior lights never know when the door is open and therefore never come on. Thanks for your help @Scooter62 .

I'll see if my dealer can turn it down. Thanks for this tip as well!

Is the chime coming through the stereo? Or is it a dedicated device? If it's the latter, then you could just disconnect the chime speaker.

This is really frustrating in my 16 with smartkey system. With the ignition off when I open the door it will ding at me, even when my keys are in my pocket. The only way to stop it is to close the door as my keys are in my pocket. Does anybody know what a dealer would charge to disable this setting?
