hello i am new here. I have a 2001 Tacoma with key issues. I have a new key from dealer from vin number. I have replaced floor shift bushings. replace lock cylinder (not the problem) but key wont come out of acc mode without disconnecting battery. So thinking key interlock solenoid. I unscrewed the solenoid and the key comes out so I have gotten a replacement but unsure of how to exactly replace it. any thoughts? been scrolling through youtube and internet...
    thanks,
    renee

assuming auto trans.. try cycling the the shifter through the pattern and when in park push forward on it slightly. There is a little switch that operates the key interlock in there and it get gunked up with crap over the years. 4 Phillips head screws on teh lower sides and that cover pops off to see.

This. Just did this about a month ago on my 01 because of the same issue. I cleaned it and sprayed it with silicone lubricant and it has been operating flawless since.

You also can take out the shift lock solenoid and in the center of it is a plunger take something and push that in and keys should come out and u actually can leave that off as well
