Only got one once... that was a Ford in 1991. I've purchased 3 Toyotas, 1 Chevy, and 3 Fords "New in box", plus company cars.

In my manual of my 2008 sport there is a plastic valet key. Haven't used it but I just saw it there the other day.

Do me a favor, look at your key. One side of the blade is mirror image of other. Meaning both sides look the same. It make sense, because it does not matter how you put your key in the lock it will turn. So only one side of the blade is working at a time.

you say your key is non chipped & you want a type of immobilizer function? Well back in day we did something like this that you may want to consider : Tap into the start circuit out of the ignition switch or anywhere along the harness. Spit the wire & run it as a switched circuit to a hidden toggle switch. Flip the switch to open & no key will start it.

the other scenarios like folks mentioned if u just want a door key & do have a chipped key you can get a non chip key made most anywhere for a couple bucks. I like to do this for my "hide a key " & keep a chipped key stashed inside the truck. Also like to take a simple non chip key when I'm doing stuff where I am apt to lose a key or drown one & simply lock my good key & remote in the truck.

Good point, a kill switch is on my to do list this summer. Unfortunately, I do not have a chip. So i was hoping on making a "door key" somehow. I did a small experiment, I shaved off one side of the blade of the key and it opens doors and start the truck. But you can only insert a key one way now. Second I cut off 1/8 from the tip and it made it hard to insert and would not open door or start the truck.

Could you look at your key and see if one side of the key blade is mirror image of other blade? Thank you.

Well probably if you have nothing to hide it would save you a lot of grief to just let them search it. Guess you have never been through US customs with your vehicle.

If they have " Real Probable Cause " they will search it regardless if the door is locked or not. How do you spell Baton. Or they can just detain you long enough for a search warrant.

Focus on Not Giving Them probable cause.

I think it's personal opinion at this point. I could give you probably dozens of scenarios why it's bad idea to let LEO to search anything.

I had some negative encounters and some positive like nice chit chat about handguns when was pulled over for clearing intersection after red light. LEO was not sure if I did cut the red light or not, he just asked and I told him that due to traffic I was not able to clear intersection before red light. He saw my handgun in my car holster and we chatted about guns. I had xds9 that just came with recall and he was considering buying one. He never asked for my permit because he had no reason to.

So anyways. that was positive encounter. And if he had asked me if he could search my car. I would tell him: Officer, I understand you trying to keep us safe and I'm law abiding citizen with nothing to hide but I do not consent to searches.

I stay away from Nazi states that border with PA but sometimes I have to cross into them. Let see, NJ leo pulls me over: sir could i search you car. Sure, sir. I have nothing to hide.

Is this a 9mm brass AND one "LIFE" round under your seat!!!
    Is this a shotgun shell?

Well sir, I go to range once a week and I reload.
You don't have "purchase card" Please put your hand behind your back... FELONY

    Is this a knife?
I use that for emergencies and fishing.
The blade is longer then ...
Please put your hand behind your back...

    Is this a pepper spray?
Please put your hand behind your back...

    Is this a radar detector?
Here is your ticket for that

Is this a hand gun barrel?

Oh, that thing, that is from my 22. plinker. I forgot I had that
Please put your hand behind your back... FELONY

    Is this a HANDGUN?!!!
Sir, when I made that left I ended up on one way bridge. I did a legal u turn as soon as I came off a bridge and I was heading back to my state....
Please put your hand behind your back...
    FELONY 2 years minimum

Do you have prescription for this?
Yes sir, but for convenience I put some pills in my pill carrier.
Please put your hand behind your back...

I could go on and on. Things that could get me in trouble that I might have by chance or did not know it's there or forgot I have.

I'M NOT LOOKING FOR ARGUMENT. Since we started talking about searches I just wanted to show how quickly it could go wrong at least for me. And by refusing a search you protect a constitution at same time.

What i want is to find out how to make a key that opens door but doesn't start the truck :))

If you have a "hidden compartment" you can be charged with a felony crime. The guy arrested in this story didn't actually have any illegal drugs:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/gen...nt-felony.html

Watch this, guy going to jail for shotgun shell. This happens everyday, law abiding citizens go to jail because of draconian law made by libtards.
