Anyone find the cure to this installed bd5 today and now I’m having the same problems with the fobs. I have meso dome lights and map lights, led headlights. Works fine if I turn the bed light to off but if it’s in the on position it can take multiple times to lock unlock.

Nope. Really bums me out. Me so recommended I try putting some ferrals in the wiring for the brake light. I ordered a bunch from Amazon to try, but haven't had the time yet. With all the work it took to install and seal it, I just haven't wanted to rip it apart.

That’s exactly my thought I am not ripping it out again at least not this soon after installing. I guess I’ll just plan to keep the bed light in the off position unless I need to use it for loading stuff in the dark turn it on then back off again really bummed about it though.

Yep. FYI, meant ferrite capacitor. Meso suggested behind the switch first since its easier to get to.

I read both pages of this

this is absolutely 100% a power and ground issue
Those of you with a ton of mods
Start checking the power drain on your items as well as their overall draw on your vehicle and start doing some math.

those of you with just the BD4/5 light?
Go check all your grounding wires in the engine bay
Next see if you can add a better ground for your BD4/5 specifically.

I just covered all this in more length on the brake light thread specifically

i'll try this over next weekend.....

don't think its' power, as I didn't 'add' anything (like fogs), only replaced stuff with LED versions, so the power drain should be less if anything.

That said, MAYBE the BD5 does have more power then the stock light.

Any idea how I might find the grounding wire for the brake light IN the engine bay?

    Thanks for the help!

the BD5 does draw more than the factory light for sure.
And as mentioned by someone else in here
LED headlights can also cause the RF interference.

to add a ground to your brake light shouldn’t be an issue

to add one for the brake light all the way to the engine bay is a bit much imo

    but
Do check all battery and chassis grounds in the engine bay because any lose can allow more line/wire interference through other truck systems

ah... my bad. when you mentioned the engine bay, I thought you meant to find where the ground from the brake light terminated there. (and to check and/or improve).

Per my reply in the other thread, looking for anyway to NOT remove the headliner. :)

It sucks, but that's what I've been doing as well. I just use the bed lights when necessary versus having them come on when I open the doors.

Heads up, guys. I took Caboose117's advice and added an additional ground to my BD4-NMO harness. I ran it with 10AWG primary wire to a ground on the passenger C-pillar. That 18AWG coming from the original harness wasn't cutting it for all these lights I think.

My fob is working as intended so far. Before this I would have to wait for the cargo lights to time out before I could use the fob to lock the truck.

    ok, what? :)

so I installed from the outside. To get to that wire, you either need to come in from the outside, or via the headliner (as far as I know). Help me understand how you did this?

I just pushed the wire in from the outside and it popped out from my headliner just above the rear window.

I just wanna tell you how hard this made me laugh.

so in my circle of friends whenever I tell them something they never believe me the first time around
So then they learn the hard way and come back to me and say hey man you were right.

And I can’t tell you how many days I’m gonna bring this up in conversation just to rub in my friends faces hahaha

I can be a little petty

You have to first at least partially peel back the panel behind the rear seat. Then if you start at the top of the pillar and work your way down you can pull it back just enough to reach the ground.
