I got my color matched bumper plugs in and installed. Perfect match for Impulse Red Pearl. Price is right and real fast service. I'll add a pic or 2 to this post tomorrow when it's light.

I've got a Barcelona Red Metalic 09 Access Cab and I want to get the key hole plugs. Who else with the really great Barcelona Red color wants to get them. We need 3 or 4 peeps for Dev to make the paint investment.

    looks good.

bumper plugs can be had for 18 cents each @ lowes. then colormatch them.

i remember seein a few dudes on the audi forums sanding down pennies and colormatching them to cover their key holes. not sure if the taco has the same size hey hole. would be interesting.
this guys key hole covers look pretty good.

perfect for the guy who doesnt want to search for the right part or colormatch

I would like the keyhole plugs, but I would like to know if they are easy to get out in case I need to use the key.

Is there a special tool to remove them?
Or just pull them out with the fingers.
Will they come off during off road vibrations and get lost?
Or are they positively locked in place.

    Thanks
    Mandy

I know you from newcelica. I'm RedlineE46S3 on there. Keytechniques makes good covers. I had them on my Celica and had no problems. Didn't know they made them for the Tacoma. I'm going to have to get some.

Mandy, im going to answer your question to the best of my knowledge
    1. no special tool to remove them. you can use your credit card to remove them with out any damages. if you have healthy long finger nails you can use that too.

    2. they're not locked in place at all. there's a stem that sticks in the keyhole. but it doesn't go in deep. it is secure enough to hold the cover in place. i dont think they'll come off during off roading.

what's up dude. i remember i almost bought your hood!!! i didn't know you had a taco. :D

unsure but i think its plastic then they're prepped for painting. dev should be able to give you guys/gals a more specific answer.

First off let me say that most of the notifications ended up in my junk folder and that is why I have not posted. I check it once a week in case something ends up there as it always does. 2nd the bumper plugs look great in impulse red. Thanks TRlPPlN for answering questions for your memembers as I apresiate that very much. Let me clear up some things so that you know what you are getting. Yes it is true that these bumper plugs as well as the keyhole covers are cheap fasteners and no they are not 18 cents each. Yes you are free to go to lows or any hardware store to make your own and that is great as I love things that are DIY. Keep in mind however that you are not paying for the fasteners as we have a color match system as well as high quality materials that make this possible. We put a good amount of labor and two types of adhision promotors and top it off with a high quality ceramic clear that is imported. The keyhole covers for the Tacoma use an eccentric steam because the opening for the key lock in relation to the handle is off and this is part of the R&D that was done as the request of the Scion owners. They do need some rubber cement which is non destructible on the stem to hold them firmly in place.

So to recap we do make a profit but we also offer a service for which you share the material costs with other owners which benifits us both rather then performing the task on you own. We do offer a small discount on primed covers if you want to take to your body shop to have painted incase we do not have your color.
We hope to serve you with keyhole covers and bumper plugs.

    Thanks
    dev

Your DIY looks great. We actually use plugs that have a very small foot print so that they are not as visible from a few feet away.

Hey keytechniques, any deadline to order these things or can you make a set whenever?

I'll be picking up a set for the door handles as well as a set of Impulse Red for the front as soon as I can register my truck back in West Virgina.

I can't wait lose the mandatory California front license plate and get my windows tinted darker than this stupid state allows.

I see myself getting pulled over by CHP in the future...
