I bought a 2005 PreRunner DC LB a few months ago and when purchased, the dealer didn't have keyless entry FOBs for the truck. I heard that they could be picked up pretty cheap on Ebay, so i decided to just buy one.

The FOB came with instructions to program the FOB, and after many attempts i have been unsuccessful so far.

Is there any way to determine if my truck is even setup for keyless entry?

Is there any tips for figuring out what the issue is?

    Thanks JB

Are you sure your truck has the receiver for the locks? It could be the fob is sending but nothing is receiving.

My guess is .... and mine you, it is only a guess.

If you have power locks, you have a receiver for your fob.

Unfortunately, may not have a receiver. My friend bought a 2011 Mazda 3 and although she has power locks, she got no fob. When asked about it, they ran the numbers on her car and found that she didn't get a fob because there is no receiver for the option package she chose. He told her the best way to do that is to get an alarm installed.

And that's how she found out she had no alarm.....

That is one of those life mysteries that just don't make sense. I never knew that.

Yep, i have power locks and what seems to be an aftermarket alarm enable/disable button.

I guess i have to have Toyota run the vin# to see if keyless entry was a factory installed option
