Trying to figure out how to add keyless entry to your SR or SR5, look no further!
I was tired of unlocking my door with my key, i know its miserable and i couldn't find any links or forums really going into detail on how to do it. Hope this helps!

    Total Cost : $124

First off you need to make sure you have power locks.

Here is the Product i purchased, its inexpensive OEM and works great.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Key...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Once you have the product, it can be tricky to install. I attached Factory Directions to help with the process.

    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0176/5842/files/00016-32901_16ta_TOYOTA_MCDONOUGH.pdf

CAUTION this product isn't an easy plug in & you're done. You will have to use T-Taps, remove panels, and cut & strip one wire (easier than it sounds). Mounting the receiver isn't difficult, i suggest starting the kicker panel wires first, then mounting the receiver, then proceeding to do the wires under the steering wheel.

    You'll need tools
    Philips screw driver
    Ratchet
    10mm socket (I used a long socket)
    Pliers
Needle Nose Pliers or Electrical (to strip wire)

*There are two Philips screws holding the lower steering panel, they must be taken out before you remove the panel. The Instructions make it hard to see. They're easily accessible when you turn the steering wheel to the left 90 degrees and right 90 degrees.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I’m strongly considering giving this a shot. Wiring is not my strong suit though.

I'm confused - your SR5 didn't come with keyless entry?

Does your horn beep when you lock and unlock your car? Or do you get that audible beep?

My taco is an SR, I had a buddy work out a stellar deal for me and the truck didn't have the convenience package. Although it didn't matter, i was able to add key-less entry, cruise control, and intermittent.

It sounds like the horn but a different tone, for example it sounds like the factory alarm system, along with the tone, the lights blink as well etc. etc.

Parts are in and will be installing it this weekend. Not having a remote to unlock the doors was a big inconvenience. Still surprised that a 2017 car doesn't have this as a stock, from the factory, item.....

Does anyone have pictures of the completed install? I am curious to see were you tapped into the wires from the car's harness.

Actually just noticed the high beams kick on and not the tail lights. Verified the connection is in accordance with the instructions. Did you have this issue too?

Just finished my 2018 SR w/ Utility Package - everything works as advertised, no changes from the 2016 SR instructions provided.

A big Thanks to the OP!

Do your high beams turn on when locking/unlocking?

No. I deliberately left the headlight/taillight wires unconnected...never have been a fan of letting everyone know when I lock or unlock my vehicle. I did hook up the horn and it's about half the volume of when I press the horn button ( not sure why) so I don't mind.

Looking at doing this with my 2018 SR. How do I know if I need to install the whole module or just have to program a remote?

I did this on my 2016 SR and bought the part that is linked by the OP and followed the directions in the other link, worked perfectly. No extra programming.

Does anyone have a photos of the install? I'm mostly curious about the locations of where the wires get tapped/spliced.

This will be for my 2017 SR Tacoma it just drives me crazy that you can't unlock the door(s) from the passenger side. Thanks to other posts I've already installed the intermittent wiper and cruise control switches.

I just ordered this kit for my new 2018 Tacoma SR Utility. I will try to record my installation when it gets in. I'm also going to try integrating a flip key that shares the FCC ID of the kit so i dont have a separate fob. I'm an amateur, though, so don't expect greatness :)

So you still need to put the key in the ignition to drive, correct?

Do they make a keyless entry push start aftermarket option?

Why I ask is that my wife has an ‘18 4Runner OR that doesn’t have keyless entry or push start. I figured if there’s an option for he Tacoma then there’s probably one for the 4R. I found one option but after a month they still never replied back. I hate to think what will happen if I buy it and have an issue.
