How can I tell if my truck will work with keyless entry? I have a 2004 prerunner double cab and would like to know it will work before I order the remote. I called the dealership about it and they said this year model can't have keyless entry when I'm pretty positive it can. Any help would be awesome!

Do you have a security light on the dash or somewhere else? Have you looked for a computer box for a security system like under the seat or behind the dash?

the module for keyless was installed under the dash for 02+ but was an option to be used (most had this option though). the little "light" everyone is referring to is for the RS3200 security system add-on (basically a glass-break sensor and the security light haha)

also, never go to that dealer again (if you have another dealer nearby), they obviously are stupid

I have the keyless entry but no security system or light. Just the panic button on the opposite side of the keyless entry fob

I have a 2004 Extra Cab 4x4. I did the 'unhook" the wire mod and now it has an alarm! no chirping on alarm/disarm. I didn't try to program that. I like it quiet unless tampered with.

I will check on this and yeah I just went along with dealer, but if I have this module under the dash then I assume I'm good to go on keyless.

Did it come with it or did you install/program it yourself?

It came with it. But the key FOB I got when I bought the truck had a broken plastic clip where the keys go around. So I bought another one from the dealer. And I had the dealer program it. Something to do with the Vin#

I believe there is a guide somewhere to program it. The dealer can do it but charges. I'm pretty sure I saw it somewhere and it was one of the key/ignition turn sequences

at least I hope, mine still work fine but I have a remote start now so don't use them

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Just google "how to program tacoma 2004 key fob". When I got mine from the used dealer they handed me new unpogramed fobs. I don't remember the exact procedure, but it worked when I followed it exactly. GOOGLE knows all.
