What is a good keyless entry system? I have heard about the viper systems but I am not sure how complicated it would be to install one. I have no clue where you would go to get one installed that would do it right.

Is this toyota VIP system the real deal and is it any good?

If you are not comfortable with wiring you can get one installed at most any place that does stereo systems.

Thanks, that's who I thought would do it.

Anyone know what the best basic system out there is? The Toyota VIP that I linked to earlier or the viper system?

I had a local pro install a Compustar setup recently. It was easy, as I already had power locks. It was just a matter of picking the brain and remote. I went with a basic keyless entry/alarm kit (can't remember exactly which one) and upgraded to the waterproof/durable RF-1WG6-AM remote.

I'm entirely satisfied. I'll have to look up the exact model of the brain and alarm when I get home, and I will have to refresh my memory on the cost. It wasn't terribly expensive.

Thanks, I forgot to mention I had power locks.

Anyone know if that Toyota VIP thing I linked is the entire kit?

If your not getting the stock keyless entry, go with the Viper. Had it on my BMW, loved it. Any car stereo places install as previously mentioned. :D

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
I had a local stereo shop add a Viper Alarm and door lock actuators...works perfect.

I just looked them up and they look good too. I went on the local stereo shops website and they do install the viper systems. I am just torn on what to get, Viper makes a kit with just the keyless entry for $50, but I should probably get a more expensive kit with an alarm and more stuff included.

Keyless entry and remote start worked well for me since an alarm would cost a little more to install, youd prolly be better off ordering it online and taking it in to have it installed
