now i know that keyless entry isn't a huge deal but for me the Tacoma is still a daily driver that I plan to do some things with it such as lift, rims, fender flares, tires, etc. how ever I read that there is a way to get keyless entry but no one was much help. I have a 2002 Tacoma, extended cab with trd package. The truck has power locking doors. I am just wondering if there is a possible way to get the keyless entry. Also if they do, how?

I bought this one for my 2001 Tacoma w/power door locks (and no keyless entry). In the future, I will hook up a remote lock for the tailgate that will lock/unlock with this as well.

Do you know if this would be considered a totally after-market system that you would have to do a ton of work to set it up or what?

I have a Viper the previous owner put on and it has remote start, I think I can put a tilt sensor on it, already has an impact sensor, hood sensor, rear window sensor etc- pretty happy with it. But if I were to do it again, there are RFID auto-unlock/lock with push-button start kits on Amazon I'd love to give a whirl- reeks of cheapness though, can just imagine Sammy Kamkar hacking it in 10 seconds and looks like it doesn't support much- would jump on a kit if made by Viper.

Haha push button, that would be funny. I'll give all of that a look. Thanks

The kits are affordable so worries me on effectiveness, but I like the idea. You have to cut a key to keep in the ignition to disable the wheel lock, probably have to do some other janky things, and hope they at least paid a little attention to security, and you open yourself up to the thiefs that are using RFID relays to impersonate your key while your in your place to get into your car (I'd have an RFID shielded do-hicky to drop the key into when home).

Only reason I looked into it recently is I wanted a small key fob to keep water proof that I can wear surfing, and not hassle with getting it out, pressing buttons when wet etc, just be able to walk up- open the door, get stuff done, press a button to start, drive off.
