I won't be trading my Taco in but buying additional:

If one were to pick out a fullsize due to the needs to haul around a bunch of firewood so as to not freeze in the winter, and probably pull a trailer full of wood, what would you pick?

I've got 5 truckloads of aged walnut, it's not happening with a maul.

One of my supervisors splits like 8 cord per year by hand. I think we're going to go together and buy a splitter next year.

I do 5-8 cords a year by hand for a friend. Mix of hardwoods, but not the spring chicken i once was. But I enjoy the work since i sit behind a computer M-F.

Beer and splitting mauls don't mix. Seriously.

I smacked myself in the shin with the sharp part while driving wedges last week.

I used to cut firewood before i had a real job. I miss the work, but you are talking about some hard splitting there. I think you are on the other side of the state. The difference is i split for fun, not to heat my house. So when I'm done I'm done. My friend makes out great, but it is nice when we are cutting deer in the shop to take the chill off. Works itself out.

I picked up a second job this year, so i haven't been able to cut much. He hasn't cut a damn bit of wood. I had about 10 trees fall in a storm that i cut into logs for him, but tick tock. Better tell him to save the wood i give him for the late night butchering sessions!
