I leased my 19 after leasing a wrx and I thought to myself I’m leaving the truck how it is... then I joined Tacoma world.. now a month into my lease I’m already looking at a lift kit, have the trd pro grille installed, and probably going to order ditch lights with a front bumper light bar

 

Are you planing on buying the truck when your lease up?

 

I didn’t originally plan on it, seeing as this is a first truck or 4x4 for me but I really do love it. Doesn’t bother me that it’s a base, it’s all I need. I originally thought about leasing the base then upgrading to an OR or a PRO but would rather make a truck my own then leave it stock. Plus the pros are extremely pricey.

My original plan was to lease an SR, then after 3 years upgrade to an OR or PRO. But I really don’t need any of the fancy stuff as I don’t do a lot of off-roading so the base suits my needs. Plus I can take the extra 8-15k I would have spent on an OR or PRO and make it unique. Mine might be more mall crawler then trail but I still love going camping and the outdoors. Though I don’t think anyone needs a pro to reach a campground accessible by a Kia

 

Very true, who knows at the end of 3 years I might. I change my mind a lot. My Subaru lease was a 3 year 36 and I got out at 27 months with under 5,000 miles. So if I do trade in the taco, if it goes the same as my Subaru then someone is going to get a showroom level 3 year old truck with really low miles.

 

Yea these trucks can become a serious addiction.

Ok so side topic: who here can rationalize the price point for the pros? Especially if you don’t use every feature every month. Or even the price bump between an OR and a PRO.

 

My thinking is.... I would rather have it and not need it , then need it and not have it.

 

Yeah when I picked up my SR the dealer had a voodoo blue listed for 39xxx with the desert air intake but didn’t get a chance to see if it had a “market adjustment”. I think it sold within 1-2 weeks of hitting the lot. Not sure though. Maybe a month, who knows. I’m thinking of the future and really can’t imagine dropping a couple grand more(if very similar mechanically) as most off roads are around 36-40k here and most pros are between 39-45 that I have seen. over “exclusivity” though it looks great.

There’s a custom jeep guy on the other side of the river up at the Home Depot in pottstown who does some rather amazing welding work. I’m sorry but I can’t remember his name.
