    So True.
This is why I like the country.
My rule of thumb if you ste in a suitable vehicle and get stuck, I pull you out.If you are a dumb arse who got stuck because your not your a dumb arse. Have fun paying the towing and recovery bill.

    Working on it
We had some really shitty snow/sleet squalls directly before I drove through so I imagine he panicked and lost the road, considering there are no markings. Pretty young guy.

Still being somewhat new around here... does anyone know of a thread on the board where it is explained whether you can change out your 5' bed for a 6' bed? So much is wrong with my bed, it might just be easier to swap. If I swap, why not go to 6'?

Not possible without major frame modification. Honestly, don't see the value in such a swap.

Now to me this is no big deal make or buy a few bed mounts attach them to the frame.

You most likely would need to lengthen the rear light harness just a royal pain

removing the old bed and sitting the new bed on.

The real Problem and cost would be to find a good bed within a 1000 miles or more of Eastern Pa

Is a Flat bed a option??

    Long bed vs Short bed
Two totally different wheelbases and the beds are built to accommodate, it would require much more than drillin a few new holes and splicin in some wire

It’s been done but, I think streaching the frame was involved.

Yup... here at work myself too.

Homer, I kinda figured such. I'm no engineer but as I pondered it I thought it would require a longer drive shaft since that extra foot seems to be placed between the wheel well and the cabin.

Thanks for the thoughts Wyoming. This is nothing I'd seriously consider if it wasn't just a quick parts swap kind of thing. Some vehicle makes you can do goofy things like that. My other ride is a '93 Volvo 240. I was watching a youtube about a dude that changed out his automatic transmission to a manual in his Volvo 240 in a day's time since its just engineered to plug and play in that way. That's the kind of thing I wondered.

My truck is so rusty that I kind of wondered if a bed swap would just make more sense rather than cutting/welding the ugly exterior stuff like the wheel wells on it (let alone all the rusted out mounts to the bed up underneath).

    Just daydreaming, that's all.

Critter, I'm hankering for burgers too! Last weekend I fixed up a crusty old grill my dad gave me (new burner tubes needed) but I still need to fabricate some kind of drip pan for it. I could buy replacement tubes for it, but not a drip pan! Now that I borrowed that welder from the in-laws I may find some sheet metal and have that grill drip pan be my "practice" before I start welding shut the holes in the Tacoma's floor and fender.

Instead of a bed swap, how about a truck swap
