Have to retract a recommendation for Ron Rielly roofing. Discovered they did not replace rotted decking on the garage roof, they just shingled right over it, hole and all. Called them out on it and they came and did a half ass patch job with rotted decking all around the patch instead of replacing the 4x8 sheet. I have at least 8 sheets that need to be replaced. Fired the guy last night after I got home and saw the shit job repair.:frusty:IMG_1464.jpg

Dam Dennis, that really sucks. I hadn't called the guy yet and after seeing what he did to your roof I ain't going to call him. The only outfit that I can vouch for if you need work done is Lemus Construction. They did the roof on our club house and they did a great job. Hope it all works out for you. If you need a hand with anything, drop me a line.

R.B. Winter State Park and Bald Eagle State Forest

This past weekend I camped at R.B. Winter State park and then drove the state forest roads in the area to check out the dispersed camping spots in the state forest. IMG_1994.jpg

When I first arrived to the site I had a guy ride up on his bike and say "Hey don't leave anything out on there". What? "Don't leave anything out at night. This morning the last guy heard something and came out of his camper and there was a bear sitting on that table there eating a stick of butter." That's a good way to start a weekend! Yes there are black bears in the area. The dumpsters are bear resistant and the park is putting in small bear resistant trash "safes" around the camp area. Besides the juvenile that was seen sitting in my site that morning there has been a sow and cub seen at the far end of the campground multiple times from the reports of park staff. The sites here seem to be closer together than other state parks I've been to. I wasn't happy about that, BUT overall it was a very quite campground compared to others so I can't really complain.

That's a nearly 1lb delmonico on the griddle. That turned out perfect. And that I finished :hungry:

Bald Eagle State Forest Dispersed Site "Reviews"
My main reason for staying at R.B. Winter though was to check out the dispersed drive in campsites in the surrounding state forest land. I visited 11 of the state forest campsites and had a great time driving the forest roads at totally appropriate speeds :mudding:. It's hard to find information on the state forest sites so I'm sharing what I saw here.
Site#7 - Sits high on the mountain just off an overlook. Mostly in the sun with shade along the perimeter depending on time of day. DCNR site says tent only but there was room to get a Tacoma and same size trailer into the site off the road.
    IMG_1998.jpg

Site#16 - Walk-in site only. Parking is along the road, trail leads to site about 100-200 feet off road.
Site#10- Nice site in the trees back off of the forest road. However, one of the drivable trails is RIGHT up against the site. IMG_2001.jpg

Site#3 - sits low near the creek, there is a sign at the entrance to the site that the creek is fly fishing catch and release only. Seems to be a full sun site. IMG_2002.jpg

Site#9 - Nice site, right off of an intersection of forest roads. Creek nearby for fishing water etc. Sun and shade. IMG_2003.jpg

Site#15 - Only notes I took was not trailer compatible. From memory it was up on the hill off of the road. Large parking area though and decent size for multiple tents.
Site#6 - notes say "Meh. nothing special" could fit small trailer maybe but better tent site.
Site#4 - not trailer compatible. Don't remember anything else about it.
Site#5 - Could be a nice site. There was an RV occupying the site so didn't want to walk about. Nice creek nearby for fishing, water, etc.
Site#8 - small and right on the road
Site#12 - The site to go if you have horses. Two large sturdy metal hitches installed. And the flies to go with the horses. I knew it was a horse site before even seeing the hitches. Large, and open.

Hey guys, pretty new to this page. Anyone know of decent places to go in eastern PA? Also willing to travel a little distance. I’m in Levittown, PA about a half hour northeast of Philly.

Wow! Best park campsite review I've ever seen! Period! I wish I knew this much about some of the parks I will likely go to near me in the future. Excellent job

I've done quote a few roofs in my day. We don't replace decking unless it is junk, but when we do we go until we get good wood. Once that lead to replacing an entire little porch roof that looked brand new. The owners were grateful, but we also were very upfront when we noticed the rot and worked with them as that was not part of the estimated work. Some people just aren't raised right. We do it on the side and only word mouth, so reputation goes a long way. Hope you find someone honest and move on from this mess. After the tornado hit my place I know this all to well. Luckily a good friend is a contractor.

The house looks pretty rough. I can see the missing gutters so there is probably plenty of water damage and other issues lurking inside (mold?).

Hey everyone! I'm from Southeastern PA and recently purchased a new taco. Still pretty new to TW and I will do my best to get up to speed on this thread lol. Looking forward to getting more active in the community though!
