If I had more time (or think about it in advance) I would either get TC gusseted tabs, or Marlin Crawler kit. But tbh, without access to a lift, it would definitely be a pita job to install either kit

 

It's wildcat mountain in schyukill county. Close to where my parents live. Went for a visit and decided to venture to the backside of the mountain to check out the foliage. The road isn't anything trechours but it offers awesome views

Been thinking about going to an electric H/W heater. Currently using oil heater, typical Levittown set up. Is it worth it?

 

sucks, better than it exploding and flooding the basement while you’re on vacation

nice easy job tho

 

The only thing that sucked was draining the entire contents of the hot water heater into the sump pump.
Other than that the install was not difficult, just a bit time consuming considering I had other things that I wanted to get done on my kitchen remodel today.

 

I use an electric in the summer and oil/wood in the winter. I've found it to be the most efficient use of my pesos. I dropped from ~15kwh on a weekday to ~8kwh. Whether or not that's less than your cost of heating it with oil I have no idea.

The weekends are harder to tell for me because of laundry.

 

Fortunately, while I was messing around with this water heater my father-in-law was able to wrap up the majority of the electrical preparation.
Had to redirect a few things and redo all of the switches where we had to move things for the new pass-through.

I did a much-needed outlet in the middle of the cabinet run and also set up the electric power source for the dishwasher.

we found some interesting quirks but nothing nearly that bad.

 

I'm going through a reno myself and this scene always pops into my head. Thought you would get a kick out of it. Lol

 

The end result is we can now see into the backyard from the kitchen.

I had a similar reaction when we removed the old plaster from that wall. We found the square where the original exhaust vent was mounted in the exterior wall...

also found a wire that was not hooked up to anything that was dead. Some random thing that was just left to die in the wall.

 

It is crazy what you find while remodeling...the previous owner had a junction box wired up live which wasnt connected to anything.

 

I replaced two 50 gal with a tankless gas/ propane. 2.5years later and I still love it. Endless hot water and I put in a recirculating loop so it’s practically instant.

 

You had two hot water heaters?

 

Yep. It’s what was there when I bought the place. Two different loops. I combined the two with the tankless.

 

I can see why it was such a huge benefit, I can't imagine keeping two 50gals running all the time. That'd be like $40/month just for hot water.

 

Well then you would know all of the traveling secrets! It does seem like no matter what, something is gonna be quite the headache traveling around there.
