36 and rain in NE Philly, but in my infinite wisdom I made a deal to drive up to Scranton after work today to buy some wheels/tires, so I might see snow after all.

I picked this spot out on a map and hunted it Saturday without scouting it. Worked out well. 10 point, 18 inside spread. I've been hunting the Allegheny National Forest for almost 10 years now about 5 days a year. I've spent many years without seeing deer. It is nice to finally see those efforts and time were not wasted, but an education or just dumb luck. 1.17 miles back in the woods, so it was about 4 hours total to get him and my gear out of the woods. It was worth every bit of the work though, I have never been so proud of a hunt.

I've shared similar experiences. In the 9 years i've been hunting up there this is the 3rd buck I've gotten. The others weren't near as nice. I've found 2 spots that are pretty remote and funnel movement. It is just a lot of work when things line up. I love it up there, great views, hunting, fishing, even a few rattlesnakes.

That must be a city people thing having no more then 48 hours worth of food.

So when bad weather is expected you fear your going to starve ??

Rush off to the Quicky Mart to buy a whole bunch of other goodies you can`t live without .

I grew up in the city and remember buying bread and milk. Granted the corner store was within walking distance. But we we snowed in for like 2 days max.I this day and age with constant salt and plowing and the extra food kept in the house now a days, its crazy that people still do this.

I was just discussing a similar subject with a co worker.
Throwing/blowing snow into the street from your driveway/sidewalk.
When i was a kid we did not get our streets plowed so throwing in the street was so cars could run it over to get rid of it.
Now as an adult and snow plow operator it drives me nuts when people blow/shovel their snow into the street when you have a yard to blow/shovel it in to. Anyone have any thoughts on this.
