I think I shudder nowadays when I hear I-81. I used to travel for work and we frequented Scranton and Upstate NY frequently and 81 was our most used route. I've seen all kinds of bad driving and close calls.

Unfortunately we were struck in our big van back in 2017 on I-76 West near Harrisburg. We were stopped for a wreak when a semi driver wasn't paying attention and slammed into the car behind us which forced us up the embankment rolling us on our side. Somehow me and my coworker walked away with only a minor scratch, but the driver in the car was unfortunately killed.

    This was our van:

I was also unfortunate to see the guy crushed in the car screaming for his life. I was able to get my coworker away from seeing/hearing it. Took me a while to get over, but I still hate to drive the interstate. To this day there are probably tools from my toolbag littered among that stretch.

When I used to run out to Potter County, the stretch from 84 to 81 to Clarks Summit was a bit sporty.:burnrubber:

How about Conneticut and Massa-two-shits. I couldnt believe they were doing 85 in a 45 work zone. I had to speed up or get run over:facepalm:.

No, not at all, I am just being realistic. I agree with what you are saying 100%, I just don't see really a way to avoid paying it.

The real problem is the effing cell phone use. I see it every stinking morning. I end up behind people who drive with their head down towards the phone and glance up for a split second to check their driving. It is so friggin' dangerous.
I called a guy out one time. We were sitting at 13 & 413, waiting to go under the high speed line to the BBB. Light changed, he sat there glued to his phone. I hit the horn, which startled him, he hit the gas and I picked up my phone and waved it at him while still behind him. He got so pissed, he started giving me the finger out the window, and actually pulled over right there on 413 to 'have it out' with me. Like I was going to pull over too and get into a fight on my way to work. I drove by and never saw him again.

Please don't be 'that guy or girl' on the phone!

Cellphones are legit worse than speeding and the penalties need to reflect it better.

Try driving a fire truck... I wish the trucks I drove had cameras. It gets real hairy some days...and that's without the emergency speed part, tack on the lights and siren ... whole new ball game

Probably the most common sentence out of my mouth when I'm driving or in the officer's seat. I've had people pull right out in front of the truck, stop dead in their tracks or my favorite, pedestrians that like to test fate and run across the street as we're right on top of them almost.

    This! ^

I see this shit all the time!! UN-fucking-believable. Worst one I've seen was a mother that walked in front of a fire truck holding/dragging a kid (4-5 year old), because they are pedestrians, and have a right of way in a crosswalk!! Fire truck stopped less than five feet away from them, blaring their horn a whole time.... Smh!

Anyways, unrelated... 6 pedestrians were killed in NYC in last 5 fucking days... Yup, they do have right of way in marked and un-marked crosswalks.
Not every time driver is at fault, but still responsible...

Don’t mind me, just venting. Seen too much crazy stupid shit in last few weeks. It's getting the best out of me

My favorite is those that just stand just off the sidewalk .

You stop to let them cross they just look at you strange .

The ones with there nose in the phone who walk right off the curb trip and fall .

No wonder I almost am to the point I hate driving .

We have a scholarship at my college in memory of a young man who was killed on PA 33 when the driver of an 18 wheeler was texting, lost control, crossed the median and hit him head on. The young man was headed to take his last final exam before graduating college. Texting while driving does kill and it is devastating to the remaining family.

 Morning folks. When I drive I use my Blue Parrot head set and google assistant. I can hear and reply to texts when driving never taking my eyes off the road. Works great. No offense to the ladies on here, but another problem is the women putting on makeup with the visor mirror while doing 80 on the turnpike . In the left lane no less.
