I have several immunocompromised coworkers. Most of them I've done a lot of stuff to get them fully functional safely at home. One of them is calling the Governor an idiot for shutting things down and saying this is a massive conspiracy. Like, most of us are taking this relatively seriously with a lot of precautions taking place and he isn't and he'll be the first one to die.

Right now we're in the process of moving a whole pile of raw materials (other than cows) on site, just in case.

I actually posted this on facebook but I feel it fits here as well, if I don't get banned for political discussion..

FWIW: I think the governor did the right thing. I'm also not sure if we should even be operating but people need to eat so it is what it is.

If you can stop the spread of the virus for roughly 2x your incubation time, you've stopped the outbreak. If you stop your outbreak BEFORE hospitals are overwhelmed everyone has won.

I'm reminded of a story from, of all places, Ice Road Truckers. In it, the driver tells a story of being on a downhill with a trailer that is pushing his truck. By that, I mean his truck was no longer pulling the trailer, and gravity was winning. In order to stop a cart leading the horse situation, you actually have to, of all things, accelerate. You have to get in front of it before you can slow it down. That's what the governor is doing, he's accelerating to try to get ahead of the disease.

If this works, hospitals in our state won't be overwhelmed, they'll continue serving the community as designed. Perhaps we can even handle those cases that other states, that waited too long, cannot.

Thankfully they made it here yesterday for a delivery. I'm pretty sure they'll stay open because of oxygen and medical gasses.

Unfortunately I'm still working. And I had to attend a funeral yesterday but kept my distance from everyone

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
To add to this, some of my healthcare worker friends who work in the local hospitals have said they still aren't prepared. They don't have the proper supplies or the training. "Clusterfuck" was an accurate description.

This whole thing is risk assessment and mitigation. If we don't shut down now, the virus will do it for us.

Wife and daughters can work, all in the medical field. Ft. Dix is essential personnel only. Contractors need special permission to go no post.

It showed promise, but I read it the other day and it was only like 60 patients involved, which doesn't really qualify as a true study. Though within that sample it showed quite good efficacy.
