50lbs of deer meat in the freezer from a Doe shot in October that I just started going through over the weekend. Venison Stroganoff turned out pretty good.

 

I've got half a cow on order from a custom shop.. hopefully that doesn't fall through.

 

It's hard to beat. They'll kill it, cut it, and vacpack it for cheaper than I could buy the bags. Also I don't have to spend hours grinding it.

 

We’re thinking about growing a cow...

 

I seriously considered fencing my yard and getting one. Get one in the spring and have it butchered in the fall. Also less mowing!

 

Most literature suggests 1.5-2 acres of good pasture per cow.

 

I wasn’t kidding. We really are considering it.

 

Lots to learn about that sort of thing. I don't know how hard you're planning on getting into it though.

 

Well, we are already planning on Alpacas, a llama, a few goats, and some chickens. So, we have a lot to learn anyway.

My wife has been talking about chickens. At .75 acres we really do have the necessary space, however the township's code says you need at least 1 acre. :-\

 

The majority of people I know that have chickens live somewhere that they aren't allowed to have them.

 

I’d trade something for it. Not sure what... but.
