I'm doing green peppers, several types of tomato, potatoes, an early and late variety of corn, beans, peas, carrots, yellow straightneck squash, cucumbers, and lettuce.

Last Saturday me and the neighbor chopped down 7 huge pines and yanked up the stumps.

To replace those, I grabbed some baby Golden Rain Trees from somewhere they're growing like weeds near an adult tree. They're about 8 inches tall at the moment and I'm giving them the TLC pulling them in each night after dark and then taking them out when I wake up. Gotta keep the frost off and make sure they've got a fair shot. So far they're doing well after the transplant from where I pulled them. The goal is to have the grass re-grow over all that muddy mess from the pine tree removal, then lay down some new slat fence on that border, and THEN put in the baby trees. Should be a process over the next couple months.

But thanks to this COVID-19 stay at home order for the extra time at home to accomplish such long overdue chores.

I planted a bunch of acorns in pots, hoping they come up and I can get some home grown oaks in next year.

Little 4x4 plot with good southern exposure is as good as it gets here.

Do oaks ever grow where you want them in an intentional manner like that? I have no experience with actually trying to make one germinate. I have only ever transplanted them from existing seedlings that spring up here and there in flower beds, etc.

Which one, taking the little propeller seeds and germinating them, or transplanting existing seedlings?

    Mine is about 50x75.

I have so many acorns out back that it crunches when I walk. Some of them you can see have started popping roots down into the ground, so if push comes to shove I'll just pot some that come up before I have to mow.

Never they will just grow where they are a pain.

Plant them from a sapling it will die but the one in the truck bed will be just fine

This is from a few years ago - the fence is aged now - my wife's garden. We've added 3 earth boxes for growing tomatoes and a trellis in the back for green beans.
