Sway bar required to pass inspection in PA?

Lol I just figured I'd offer the input. Actually, in PA, you have to have rear mudflaps too! (almost none seem to though)

Next you're gonna tell my my fog lights are wired wrong and my tint is illegal.

Seriously though, since inspection stations aren't liable for anything (at least not safety related) what's the incentive to fail people for these kinds of things?

 

Lol as far as tint goes, general rule of thumb is when the vehicle is in a lit shop you should be able to recognize interior features. Fogs lol whose aren't?! Your second comment makes me question what you're saying. I don't know if you're refering to the tint and fogs, or if you think that a vehicle we pass that goes down the road and falls apart and crashes isn't our problem?

 

I mean stuff like mud flaps for instance. You pass it and the guy gets pulled over and ticketed for those items, your shop isn't liable. So why would any shop bother not passing someone for that and potentially losing a customer?

 

I got bitched out for a bike with a clear taillight.. Shown perfectly red but because it was white the shop kicked me out and charged me even though they looked at the taillight and failed me. Went to another shop and he passed it no problems

 

I would think that if a shop constantly let's little things go, and someone notices that vehicles coming out of this certain shop are passing this way, then that shop could lose its license to do inspections. In-turn losing that business.

I wonder how much the state actually checks into things like that.

 

Yeah that's like the lights behind my grille. As long as they have "covers" when the inspection is in progress then they are fine, or if they are tied in with the high beams then it's cool. Mudflaps to me are a mixed bag. I'd rather not have them but they are supposed to be there. (whether or not they are is a different thing)

That's crap. Look at the tail lights on your truck. They aren't red if you ask me. I know the type you're referring to, and those should pass. The only light color restrictions are "amber" front parking lights and turn signals, and red brake lights.

I'd be more scared about a cop stopping you than having a problem with the state when it comes to little things like tint, flaps, etc. A station that is constantly passing vehicles with rotten rocker panels, rusted frames, etc. will get a LOT of business because they let it go.

I know of a couple within 3 miles of where I work. Just for reference, within ~10 miles of where we are there are over 10 inspection stations. So there are plenty of local options and all of us around know who passes bad vehicles. We got nailed 2 years ago and lost our license for 4 months. It was rough. We got screwed. Too long of a story to type, but every station around was cool with us doing a "pre-inspection check" of our regular customers' vehicles so we could do the repairs we regularly would have. Then the customer would go to the other station and have an inspection done.

 

Yeah thats what I thought, He passed me but said just put a red reflective piece on the back just to please everyone

 

I took my bike to a pretty respectable shop in the area and got it inspected. Didnt even have a lens over the reflector. Just red LEDs. Some people are cocks

 

I'm was more pissed about having to pay. Dude didnt even take it inside and then I had to wait 30 minutes for them to tell me they werent gonna look at it, then charge me for it on top of that

Only have to be in the water for 10 sec to lunch ur boat and 10 sec at the end of the run.
