I'm glad we do not live in New Jersey, because I would have not been able to take the test in my truck! Why?

Because my truck has a foot-operated pedal parking brake! Jersey requires all license tests to be taken in a vehicle with a handbrake so the instructor can intervene and stop the vehicle if necessary; I can understand this, but not everybody has a vehicle with a traditional handbrake...

My mom's minivan and the Tacoma both had the push-to-release foot pedal brake; The 2008 Acura TL my dad had at the time had a handbrake, but my dad didn't let me drive that until I'd had my license for about a year or so...

So if the family of a new driver doesn't have a vehicle with a handbrake, they have to hire a driving school to provide the vehicle; In typical Jersey fashion, I believe that the NJ driving schools have lobbyists in their pocket to keep things in their favor (kinda like the beer distributors here in PA going out of their way to keep grocery stores and gas stations from selling six-packs). I took the PA driving test in my non-handbrake Tacoma and everything turned out fine, and if I ever moved to Jersey (not that I ever would), I could convert my PA license to an NJ one without having to take any tests.

In the old days 7/1972 you had none of these needed hours you got your permit took the vision test took the written test went and did the road test .

In those days it was a trooper when I was young I never thought to ask if they were being punished to get stuck with that duty or they just grabbed the first one that did not hide.

Never having used a Back up Camera I would not know how.

I heard that the state troopers could be pricks back in the day...

I forget who told me this story, but back in the 60s, apparently this woman came from out-of-state looking to convert her license (May have been Colorado?). I forget whether her license was actually expired or if she'd just lived here a while, but the trooper said that she was ineligible to transfer her license; He then asked her how she'd gotten to the DMV, and she told him that she drove. The trooper then proceeded to tear up her license and tell her "tough luck"; I do not know true this story is, but if someone tore up my license like that it wouldn't end up well for them...

By the way, I don't think they have any real way of knowing how long the applicant has been here when they transfer their license; One of my best friends, who was also my boss for more than four years, moved to Pennsylvania from Nebraska in 2011. She moved lived in three different places between 2011 and 2014, and she just kept procrastinating on exchanging her Nebraska license for a PA one. By the time she moved to the third location in October 2014, her Nebraska license was a month from expiring! Her license expired on her birthday, and then she lost her wallet while partying with friends and never found it; Almost another month went by, with me harassing her the whole time, before I finally got her to the DMV. Luckily, Pennsylvania has a six-month grace period for expired out-of-state licenses. My friend had to send away to the Nebraska DMV for a certified copy of her driving record in lieu of the expired license; We went to the DMV two days before Christmas, and amazingly we were in an and out in a little more than an hour! She only had to take a vision test!

It is a good thing too, because the very next day (Christmas Eve), she got pulled over by a very Grinchy police officer for having an expired inspection sticker on the company car she was driving; The jerk wrote her a ticket for $128! It was December 2014 and the inspection stickers had expired in September. The vehicle was a 2005 Honda Element with less than 90K miles at the time, owned by the owners of the bar she managed. The cop said he could have cut her a break if the vehicle were newer, but he wrote her a ticket because it was almost ten years old; Officer Scrooge!

By the way, the Element has never failed an emissions test or safety inspection; The lousy stickers were just expired! My friend had moved from Nebraska, the Element was not actually hers, and in Nebraska they don't have stupid inspections, so she had absolutely no idea what those two stickers in the lower left corner of the windshield were for. And to give her a ticket on Christmas Eve...

I took mine on April 30th
I took my test at the State Police Barracks on Airport Road off Route 22 April 30, 1971 - my 16th birthday - my mom's 1966 Mustang with a State Trooper sitting in the right seat. I passed without issues and got my license. Earlier that morning, I made my first solo flight in a Piper Cherokee 150 at Braden's Airport in Forks Township north of Easton. It was quite a day for me....and stressful for my parents.

The first time, was in Lock Haven. There was a center at the fire department. Didn't do the 3 point turn correctly.
The second time was LH again. I stopped in the crosswalk instead of in front of the line at the stop sign.
The third time was at the Montoursville Barracks. I think they just felt sorry for me.

I never understood until I worked with people that lived in Urban areas .

Knew one Woman she said it was so quiet she was scared .

It has always been the normal for me .

Deer , Bear and assorted evil rodents all just every day to me.

I guess the sound of Raccoons making a racket or a screech owl could scare one if they had no idea what it was

Though I really could do without the Skunks being sprayed 4 times is 3 to many.

My girlfriend is kind of like this. Scared of the dark woods behind our house. Then I remind her that people kill more people than anything else and she shuts up.

To me it's a perfect vacation I've lived in jersey my whole life. And was always some what jealous of people that lived out in the country. To me there just so much more you can do out here then jersey. I can do without the beaches and the jerkoffs on the our roads.

Kathy actually tried to feed me lunch for that, but I was at work for Overtime to write a bunch of policies and after-action reports... I was sooo bumed.. Shes actually fed me once already when I was at the firehouse, brought me over some cheesesteak spring rolls... Pretty comical, she's still making sure I eat when I'm headfirst into my school work.

So, turns out wasn't an accident, all the electrical lines on the poles right there fell off, sounds like 4-5 poles worth of wires came down across the roadways right there. Typically we see one or two wires break off, and are down in the roadway, but this was some weird event that took out a bunch of wires...

I had a partner once, we were sitting at the building in Newtown, now she's from Philly...

She screams, tells me there's a damn Porcupine in the parking lot near her car... o_O dafuq?
So I meander over to the window and just absolutely die of laughter. It was a groundhog.

Same partner later that night, is sitting in the passenger seat, we're coming down 413 into Wrightstown, I see the deer running at us, and politely inform her, there are deer and I may have to swerve or hit the breaks... Wouldn't you know it the damn deer cuts right and is running right next to us and her window. I lost my hearing for 15 mins, would've thought we were being chased by a bear.

    Epic setup for campgrounds!

haha we let him sleep in the "downstairs" but he was up all night with anxiety because he couldn't see us. I'm 6 ft tall so I can lift him up a bit, but over my head and into the RTT over the softopper is too high lol
