How did your alignment issue work out?

Its like wearing a condom. Its not 100% guarantee your going to prevent genital warts, but If your banging that hooker might as well take the precaution. Some people choose to not even take the chance of banging that hooker at all and some don't care about the idea of puss oozing from their ding dong.

I don’t think I need an alignment honestly, still drives straight-ish. The same as it drove beforehand. No noticeable vibrations either

Whoa - first off, Army hater??? Hope that doesn't include me :)

Really i'm looking to see if you'd buy it. I dont expect it to be perfect, but I will need to buy the truck, then have it shipped to near detroit while i wait for the PCS-delays to catch up. I'd like to avoid major surprises by things i could have maybe seen if i was there.

    Maybe:

Steering rack leak (seepage near the tie rod bellows)
Timing cover leak (near the power steering pump)
    Coolant leak near the firewall
A/C leak at the high-pressure line going to the condenser
Just your general impressions and vibes that it's a solid. truck.

I've seen photos that it's on a spacer lift - not ideal but it's fine. The plan is to have the spacer lift removed, OME installed, and sell those wheels for probably normal Tacoma rims or 4R wheels.

Whatsit - about 100 miles round trip? I'd be happy to cover your gas costs and buy you lunch for your trouble. Or - can send chocolate and stuff from Germany. What do you think?

I need to get out and take a walk, but (excuses, excuses, excuses I know)..we have my son and DIL dog who is recuperating from surgery to repair his hind ankle that was shattered. He is supposed to stay off it except for potty breaks in the yard...no walks or such. He is a border collie/Australian sheep dog mix with a great personality but likes to run and he is too much for the missus to handle sooo I get dog sitting duty or should I say doody. I have cleaned up more dog shit from my sons dog than I wiped from his ass when he was a baby:facepalm:. Enjoy your walk .

Long story on the screen name. Maybe we can share over a drink sometime. Unless your name is Colonel Chesser I think you're good.

I have to tell you that it seems you know the trucks better than I, or at least the problem prone areas. With that being said, I could probably take a look later today or tomorrow.

I don't want anything for the time. I've had enough people help me out on here, just pay it forward sometime.

I'll try to remember to grab some pics of the concerned areas so you can make a little more educated decision.

That would be incredible - i'll email the dealer and ensure the truck is out and ready. Not a COL - prior NCO and now GS Civ employee :)

I don't know Tacomas - but in another thread i started someone suggested those areas as among the most critical. Don't do anything until I hear back from the dealership, and thank you. Beyond words, thanks Mike. Have kids? Can send a mess of Kinder Eggs if you'd like. Or you can eat 'em :)

Hey, let's not start discriminating against Army Colonels here!!!

Where are you in Germany? My last tour over there was in Wuerzburg '95-97 with 1st Infantry Division..... in a Galaxy long, long ago.

:D :D Nothing but love for COL because it's the last rank that really has direct impact on Soldiers. Plus, my Rater's Boss is a COL and in case he happens to read this, he is a wonderful leader and please approve my PCS award. :D

I'm in Kaiserslautern - but back in the 1900s - in fact, the year you arrived - I worked in 1AD G3 Air at Bad Krueznach after a couple years at McCully Barracks as an Air Defender.

I wear one of those plastic face shields when weedwacking! I didn't prior with my first weedwacker (cheap Craftsman brand unit from Sears) and it didn't ever really fling stuff back at my face other than if the debris flew forward, hit a wall, and bounced back. So I used to wear just safety glasses. Last year I bought a middle of the road model Husqvarna model and I hate the dumb thing. It literally shoots crap straight from the string directly into my face all the time. I wear that full shield for my own good. Let alone my neck below where the shield doesn't reach gets hit all the time, but at least its not my eyeballs.

Small world!! I came into 3ID in June '94 as the Division G2, went through the Warfighter in January '95 and then took over command of the 103rd MI Battalion in February '95 and went through the reflag to 1ID in Apr '96. I was in command until Feb '97 - we deployed to Bosnia in September '96 and my Bn replaced the 5 Corps MI BDE and the 1AD divisional MI Bn there in MND North. WHat a great tour.

I know K-town from my first tour - late 70's to early 80s when I was with an FA battalion in Hanau.

I just went through this with my son. He is out of the Army next year. He also asked me to look at a truck to purchase before he gets out, which I did. In that same time frame, a good friend of mine on deployment in Texas started looking at Tacoma's because he liked mine. In Texas, it is mostly rust-free trucks with lower miles. ( 2nd Gens )
Just a suggestion; if you are thinking of having a truck shipped, may as well start where they are built, in a rust free zone. Maybe someone there is willing to help from TW Texas area. Good luck!
