Spent the day at Grayman Fab with @Arcticelf and @skatefreak282. Betweenst the 3 of us - we mounted GMF custom rear shock hoops (fully bolt-on) along with Fox 12" shocks and DuroBump 3.5" bump stops and U-bolt flip kit. While the back end was torn apart, also installed Wheelers extended brake lines and @Blais03 BlaisBros diff breather relocate kit. It was a good day! #graymanfab

If you don't offroad you're fine. If you offroad you'll probably end up cracking your diff.

Alignment will be much easier after 3" with aftermarket uca. I didn't do a diff drop, but did install a spacer for the carrier bearing.

So with a lift I still gotta replace the uppers anything higher then 2.75? Cause the 15 pro sits 2.5 in front and 2.0 on the rear correct? I just level it out or go a tiny bit higher. I was hoping 3.

So many options out there. Time to do your homework. ;)

I went with a bilstein 5100 lift in the front and a AAL in the rear at first. Now I’ve got fox remote resi in the front with TC upper control arms and stock lower control arms & a Dakar rear leaf in the back with a shackle flip and B-110 billy 5100’s
    It works for me.
I did do the TC spindle gussets too.

    Also I did a 1” body lift a while ago. :D

I’m looking at the Bilstein 5100 I can use my front spring on them correct? I really wanna go three but don’t wanna replace my uppers. What’s a “upgrade” from the TRD pro suspension

I've been dropped an inch for a long time, no problemo, even before armor. I do have the extended icons though, can't imagine it makes a big difference, but is a much better angle on the cv's. Pick better lines I guess.:notsure:

What paint choice did you go with the sliders? I have to repaint mine and I might just go with a matte bed liner rattle can.

It is a matter of perspective.
The first question that comes to mind, after seeing the sheared diff mount bars, and the mounting washer and bushing assemblies driven into the cross member, is; how much damage if there was no drop kit?
Frankly, I think that the issue is hitting a large rock at a high rate of speed, sufficient to shear those supports and drive his front diff into the engine.
Armor does not make you indestructible, and is not a vaccine against error.
Blaming the diff drop is just smoke to hide the root cause, a bad line at too high a speed.
I've seen far more blown out cv's on the trails than the one loose diff due to loose bolts, so, for the type of off roading that I do, the cv's are more vulnerable.
You are free to do as you choose.

Remember Trail 11? That was due to a broken diff mount. Not the ones it the front like that link but the rear ones. I'd have been fucked without you & @cynicalrider helping me glue that back together. ;)

Nothing freakier than seeing a little stream of motor oil running out from underneath your truck. :anonymous:

Dropping your diff isn't going to save a CV from exploding on the trail, imo. You get maybe half an inch at the wheel side of angle reduction. It may save your boots from wearing against each other but there are easier methods of doing that as well.

The diff drop on these trucks only rotates the front of the diff down, which in turn could cause oil starvation to the gears. I've put over 100k miles on a lifted truck with no diff drop and still didn't wear through boots and had no driveline vibrations.
