Did they do anything for you? My dealer and I have had many issues. Though the interior smelled of fuel as well(just aired it out) and washed everything off.

 

People don't know that a cb antenna needs to be next to a flat piece of metal to actually function well. Yeah it might work in the woods in line of sight but that's it.

On my old first gen I had a magnet mount antenna on the roof and could hear for miles.

 

They seem pretty solid, it was my first time out there. Boss took me since it will be my responsibility to maintain a majority of the equipment going on the truck.

 

Yeah, I think they need join the rest of the planet earth and sell beer everywhere...

Yes, I totally agree with you about antenna placement. Proper ground plane will do wonders for most (if not all) antennas.
That being said. Proper CB antenna in proper spot (like your middle of roof mag mount) usually are not convenient for most folk, and we stick 'em elsewhere as a compromise.
It's not as big of a deal with GMRS antennas, which could be quite small, don't have to be mounted in middle of roof, and of course 15-50 Watts helps "tremendously".

Edit. Also, for whatever reason, I'm getting some electrical whine and noise on CB, and not getting it with GMRS (current antenna in old CB antenna location).

Thanks guys for the info. I will probably end up with both eventually. I am planning on doing CB first because it seems like most people have that and also I am on the turnpike daily for my commute. I'd like to go with firestik II, probably 3', either a stainless tab near the front of the bed coming out from under my softopper and run the wire between the cab and bed, or go with the hood hinge bracket. I'm leaning towards the Uniden CMX760 Bearcat.

Most do. Of the 8 closest to me 7 have indoor table and all 8 have outdoor tables

I understand that, I just didn’t remember seeing them having the required seating.

 

Every Sheetz store around here has both indoor and outdoor seating areas and all sell wine and beer.

 

FWIW: I know grocery stores can sell beer & wine provided they have the required seating but who in their right mind is going to sit in a Giant and drink a couple beers?

 

Had a magnet mount whip on top of my '65 bus. It was superduper but not as cool as a firestick or whatever became the fashion.

 

I like the firestik cause its old school fiberglass type. My late grandfather had fiberglass CB antennae on his Chevy conversion van and his Silverado. I vaguely remember his white square-body LTD had a magnet mount on the rear deck lid with a 2' wire style. For 30 years old I am a little old school with what I like on trucks; I like a tasteful amount of chrome, white letter tires, and fiberglass CB antennae. lol
