We borrowed another 30k some years back to build a shed. It was more beneficial for us to add that to our existing mortgage. We kept the years remaining the same and switched to a biweekly payment. No taxes in payment. The biweekly payment results in 1.5-2 more monthly payments per year

My mortgage company never remembered to pay my insurance, although they did pay the taxes. Escrow would continue to rise each year and more BS every time they forget. I stuck it to them and paid it off early, could not deal with their incompetence. BSI mortgage, don’t use them lol. In jersey taxes are due the first of each quarter, but subtract a month, go figure. So it’s Feb, May, Aug, and Nov for each quarter.

Not a 2nd. We owed 100k, borrowed another 30k. Now our mortgage was 130k/15 years. Prior it was 100k/15 years.
    Our biweekly payments were $500

If I move the decimal point 4 places to the left much closer to what I pay taxes on.

Congrats on paying it off!! Getting rid of those payments is a joy!

Lynn, the CPA, has been managing ours for years. A few years ago we actually rolled $100k of the mortgage into a Home Equity loan which had a lower rate. The remaining $50k stayed in the mortgage line because the max was $100k for the HE. Saved fees and closing costs to refi the mortgage. The way rates have come down our monthly payment is well under $1000 so we are both knocking out extra payments and still making money on our investments. So, we're in no huge rush to pay it off. I just let my personal CPA manage the process.

I'm just going to start dumping 2k a month on mine once the truck is paid off next year.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been in California all my life (40+ yrs). East Coast is gonna take awhile to get used too. Good thing wife is from Jersey so she will be my tour guide lol.
I don't know anything about Easton. Just know my place is near Downtown (about 15 mins from Crayola).
Hopefully we can meet up some day.
    Thanks again!!!

It's quiet at Murder, Inc. Something horrible is going to happen. I can feel it.

Same thing happens to us. Nice and quiet all day, only a couple little stupid calls, then boom (literally) at 9pm a sorter shits itself. Every... damn... time... You know what, it is what it is though. I'm a paid "professional" and gotta put it back together. Luckily for us we have shifts 24/7 so I still can go home at 11pm most times. Except for that one time they rolled 400'+ worth of belt in half that we had to take it all the way out and put it back in. Right around time to call it quits a sorter breaks so 3rd had to get that while we finish lacing and tracking the belt. That was a late night...

That's why I was in an auger at 4:30 last week when quitting time is 3:30. Some break fixes you just can't hand over in the middle of and you have to see them through to completion.

Just stopping by to say hi everyone! From Lancaster. Live in Lancaster now (just outside the city). Also lived in Pittsburgh for a spell, and Delaware County (Delco!) for a good portion of my 20s.

Bought my first Tacoma a few weeks ago and I'm loving it so far!
