Did two jobs this morning right next to the boardwalk in seaside heights. Pretty cold with that wind blowing off the ocean.

 

Dipping a toe into this pond right now. Looking to possibly add solar to the cabin. We have the well but no pump (no power). We could run a generator but who wants hear that in the otherwise peaceful woods? "Only" need to run the pump and possibly a dehumidifier....two of the biggest pigs out there of course!

 

Submersible or shallow well?

 

Here's what I would do considering capital costs. I'd buy a surface tank and a generator. Run your well off the generator to fill the surface tank, run a pump between the surface tank and the cabin which could much more easily be run on solar. Well pumps pull a lot of amperage, which just makes them complicated for solar installs.

Submersible. 240' with water at 120' .

My plan, until I change the plan, is to pump to a tank near the well, about 25 ft. above the cabin. Just with gravity feed from there, I can get maybe 10PSI at the cabin. If I need to, I will move the tank or get a second tank and a pitcher pump down at the cabin.
This is an unheated building and I am not planning on adding plumbing inside or a pressure tank. I just want to get the water down the hill without hand pumping or carrying a bucket! If I can run one of those frost-free hydrants from only 10PSI, I'd be golden.

 

Well if you're gravity feeding from the tank, if you get a 500gallon tank you'd probably have to fill it on arrival and then not have to run the genny again for a while.

At my house I probably use less than 50 gallons a day with the exception of laundry day..

yes. pioneer makes a few options that are plug & play for the Toyota harness also the dash kits are super simple to swap out.

 

Nope he lives in fair haven/red bank. Probably 40mins north of where I was at.

 

Awesome , it’s looking like I might have to go that route. I’ve been looking on crutchfield.com and it seems like no radio has Bluetooth? I’m completely useless when it comes to radio/electrical

 

The issue is that they will size your solar panels based on your usage. So if you don’t use much electric normally then the amount you would feedback to the grid would be minimal. Even then the amount of kilowatt hours you put on the grid is billed to the electric company for pennies on the dollar. If your electric bill is less than $100 a month it’s not worth staring at those stupid panels every time you pull up to your house.

 

Nope sorry, but I do get every Friday off. Been working 4 10hr days for 6 or 7 years, it'd be hard to go back to 5 days a week
