Anybody know what the deal is with certain types of traffic lights? Note that you cannot tell if the ones in the distance are green or red…

And now, we can finally tell (it blurred because I didn’t give my phone time to focus, but that’s the same light)…

Every time I come to this light, I have to hit the brakes because I never know if it’s red or green until I’m pretty much right under it!

But why? It’s annoying and it’s probably taken life off of my brake pads…

They put louvers on them so that you can only see the light from certain angles. In that case you posted they do it so they if you're at the first light you don't accidentally go when the second one (with the louvers) turns green.

You see it more often with vertical louvers so you can't see the light except for straight on when there are intersections where the roads aren't 90 degrees and it could be confusing which light goes to which road.

More idiot-proofing because so many drivers are only putting 50 percent or less of their focus on the road. I can't tell you how many times I see people start driving straight through an intersection when the left turn arrow goes green before the straight lanes.

Thanks, ya they are pretty cool. I know some are not a fan of the look but it has grown on me. Plus, they fit the bikes a lot better lol. Also, you don't see them that often.

As much as I hate raining from my head in this heat and humidity I'll take this over the frigid cold of winter. Would be nice if we still got an actual Fall and Spring with cooler weather.

Last winter, I posted a snow-themed Hey Arnold! meme; I figured this gif would be appropriate for the current weather in much of Pennsylvania…

Witnessed a rear-end collision this morning (well, my dashcam did) and stopped to give them my information; A woman in this white 2005 Honda Accord slammed into the back of a GMC Acadia. The Acadia was damaged, but nowhere near as bad as the Honda; This happened before 11am this morning and at 4pm the car was still sitting there…
