I think you'll like the new mower! I have the 46" version with the stamped deck, but otherwise same mower. The Kohler engine runs like a dream! It was only a couple dollars more to get the twin engine version and I don't regret it at all. The way the steering linkage makes it a little limiting on oil filter choice if you don't want to run the overpriced Kohler filter though.

I use a WIX filter on my Kohlers, same size as the Kohler filter and only 1/2 the price. I have been using WIX filters on everything for over 35 years.

The only thing about these Cubs is the steering linkage is ridiculously close to the filter. The stubby Kohler filter is what's spec'd. I can fit a 4.0L Tacoma filter in there, but it's tight and does eventually rub some paint off...

I used a filter spec'd for an AMC that was a little fat, it got dented.

The WIX filter is identical size to the Kohler one I believe, fits older Chryslers. I will grab the part number when I get down to the garage.

Morning all. My day yesterday. Mountain was a little slow to wake, but not me. Six hours bouncing around this JD will kick your tail. Rest and relaxation in store for me today. Well that's my plan, subject to change from the CEO. Happy Sunday all!

Three hours of mowing today at the homestead, downtown lawns done Friday, yee-ha! No mowing until Thursday/Friday, maybe I can get something actually done other than mowing. :)

The wife got into a bit of an accident today. She seems to be ok with a few bruises and a red mark on her neck where the seatbelt rubbed her before it broke (didn’t realize that was a possibility with seatbelts). The kids were in the Tacoma with me, so that was a good thing. Anyway, the insurance asked for photos and already came back with an initial estimate of $2,500 in damages. o_O
This is going to be interesting I think. They didn’t even give an estimate for both headlights that are broken (to be fair the driver side headlight damage can not be seen in pictures), the radiator that was leaking coolant or the broken windshield. Always something.
    :annoyed:

Today is not going to be a good day. Bringing the new offal wing online, which completely 100% changes the entire process for the people that work there.

Also short 3 mechanics and 2 IT techs.

Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians!! The rain has stopped here - radar looks like the worst of it is gone for now. I can hear the stream that runs through our property roaring - will head down when it gets light to see if to overflowed at the bridge above our property and washed out the road.

Sorry to hear about the accident @Goatfrog Bill. Thankfully your wife was not seriously hurt. The insurance company should update its quote once they get the estimate from the body shop....hopefully!

The tool bingo was fun - I actually won a decent creeper but I already have one so I'll donate this one to our church's festival where we do a wheelbarrow of tools.

    Be safe out there!!

I'm getting ready to cut the grass early this morning, as it is going to get hot later. My bigger concern than the dew or heat is this long nest of yellow jackets that have burrowed under some old landscaping ties in the back of our house by the tomato plants. Yellow jackets and I don't have good history together so I think I'll just leave this area alone. They were already buzzing by the time the sun came out.
