I searched the penndot site but couldnt find exactly what i was looking for.
Is anybody here familiar with titling a vehicle in Pennsylvania?
Heres my scenario
Found a car for sale by a private owner owner says he lost the title and does not feel like going through the process to get a new title (from what i found you just fill out a form and pay $22.50) so i guess that should be red flag #1 one for me that maybe its not titled to the seller.
I was wondering if a tag and title place or a penndot center could confirm the seller is on the title, and if so what i would need to do to get the vehicle titled to me after buying it.
I know common sense tells me to steer clear of a car with title issues, i was wondering if anybody has done this and what kind of issues they had.

 

I would not waste your time.
You can't sell a street legal vehicle without a title.

Most tag places are very helpful. Give your local one a call and ask them. Mine gave me al kinds of great advice on buying and selling out of state vehicles and to out of state buyers. They should be able to help you with this issue.

 

Im waiting for a reply from the seller, if its his name on the lost title it might be worth a shot, but if its somebody else on the lost title it sounds like a clusterfuck.
