Well I had a set on steel wheels with TPMS sensors that we used the last couple of years. But I couldn't program those things but yea the things we won't do for our kids. But this time I left the summers there for her to get a tire shop to swap out. 12 hr drive . The older I get......

Yes I bought a 4x4 to not drive in the winter, it is my retirement truck. It hibernates in the garage, I get an insurance discount for 3 consecutive months of non use.

I have an XJ Cherokee if things get bad, even with studded tires the old van isn't stellar out here on the country roads.

That’s a Greenworks 60v 5ah battery that’s tapped into the power line for the board. Adds about 15 miles of range roughly.

I'm impressed, especially using flux core on sheet metal! I tried the same thing with my old Craftsman flux welder and promptly burned through everything I touched. Wound up spending $800 on a gas mig setup

Now you can help me do some panels on my rusty Talon :D

    Thanks!

Hmmm... what gives it away, i.e. my using flux core rather than something with a cover gas or tig or such?

Metal gauge I have no idea about... The one with white paint on it is washer/dryer casing thickness, pretty sturdy, I believe the same thickness as the interior/exterior metal of the body. The other 3 sides (i.e. the front and back wall vertically of that region, as well as the actual horizontal base the mount touches... the red painted stuff in the 5th picture) are all beefier metal, about twice the thickness of the washer/dryer metal. The black painted front part was off a exit shoot of a lawnmower left at my house from the former owner, and the red stuff I cut out of metal car ramps my dad was going to throw away years ago for being a little bent.

    Total redneck job. ;-)

I can tell from the splatter and orangish dust it was flux core. We used alot of that out in the field on my previous job. It has its place.

You're lucky you were in an area you could use "scrap" sheet metal. I have to use clean new metal for what I'm doing. Now if you want to you can help me put this mess back together!

    You call THAT a mess???

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rocker-panel-modification-and-or-replacement.604910/

That was my mess a couple years ago. This body mount I just did was a walk in the park compared to that.

So, I think this is what I am using, or something extremely similar. That, and INE (inetub) brand 0.030" gassless flux core wire. Most of this work was on the 2V setting, with a slower feed of about 20-30. Hitting the thick stuff to the thick stuff I could crank it to the 4V setting.

Oh that is the good side. This ones a little bit different since it's a uni-body vehicle. I'm doing this side first to get some practice in. The other side I imagine is gonna need restructured I'm pretty sure. I don't want to cut that side apart till I finish this one. Kinda slowed down on the progress as I forgot to order the weld-through primer to do on the inside of the rocker before the outside part and now it's not available till mid December. Gonna have to hit up a local automotive paint store I recon. If not, I guess I can just start taking off parts of the car

For the folks not doing much Thanksgiving weekend after consuming all that turkey.

    http://www.turkeypronational.com/

I've been over to watch this several times and it's a really cool event. Lots of neat classic bikes in the parking lot usually.

    Finally going back to work!!!
I know. I know. Who the hell gets excited about that…
Typically this was my week off (Friday to Thursday), which was somewhat of a blessing I suppose. But I’ve now missed 5 days (got paid for 4 at least…). Two night shifts, a day off and I’ll be back on my normal rotation Saturday.

    Quarantine sucked.
