You can fuel up a diesel on your own in New Jersey?

Also, I've got a story for you; My friend and fellow Aspie, Doug, got a Pennsylvania driver's license without ever being taught how to pump gas. I didn't get my license until I was 22, but I knew how to pump gas before I was legally old enough to obtain a learner's permit, thanks to bugging my parents to let me do it at a young age.

Doug got his license in December 2008, I met him in January 2009, and I finally got my license in May 2011; There was some overlap there, and I finally got fed up with Doug for wasting time looking for full-serve stations when we were hanging out.

One night, I made Doug stop at a self-serve station, got him to give me his credit card, and filled up his car.

The second time, I made him watch me while I did it.

The third time, I made him do it on his own; Ge pumps his own gas now!

Heh, wow Rutter's is expanding like mad. The nearest one for Ethanol free is South of Altoona. I stop and get their gas for the truck on my way to work sometimes. They got pretty decent fuel, but I'm cheap and will fill up in Maryland most times

They are my favorite breed. This is my second one; her name is Luna. She's getting a little long in the tooth at 12 years old now...but man, when this snow dropped, it's in their DNA to be wacky and play in it!

Good snowy Tuesday morning. It doesn't look like this snow will be melting anytime soon. Fortunately, I did shovel the driveway, so we don't have to walk through 9 or 10 inches of snow. My back does not hurt as much as I thought. The grandson helped me shovel, which helped.

I did just enough to have a turn around and to get in and out, especially with a few deliveries coming today, like my propane company.

    For Ethanol free gas: https://www.pure-gas.org/extensions/maps.jsp?statecode=PA

Rutters has it in selected locations but only in 90 octane.

For those griping about NJ and their "full serve" stations. I was in NJ about 2 years ago on my motorcycle with my g/f and we needed fuel. Stopped for gas and the attendant who spoke limited broken English hit the button for premium without asking me. Now I'm fortunate in that my bike is built for and runs fine on 87 octane so there's no way I want to waste the extra money on premium so I call him out on it. He insists that ALL motorcycles require premium and that's what I need to buy. Wrong answer pal, my odometer on that bike was showing over 100k miles so I think by now I should know what I need to keep my bike running after all those miles. You can add my name to the list of folks who strongly dislike New Jersey.

I had a similar experience years ago with a guy arguing with me in reverse. I told him 93 for my BMW and he kept insisting that the car didn't need 93 and it was a waste and a scam. Rather than explain to him that the car is heavily modified and tuned specific for 93 octane I just drove off.

Friend of mine had bought a BMW for his wife to drive a few years ago. Car started running really poorly and was diagnosed with a couple of burnt valves. He was talking with his stepson about it and found that his wife was putting regular fuel in it because she didn't see the need for spending that extra money for higher grade gas even though it even stated on a decal inside the fuel door 91 octane required. Did I mention this is now his ex-wife? Over 5k in repair costs.
