Hard to be sure from the pic, but looks like a wood turtle shell - Glyptemys insculpta. Don't think you asked but it's good to know anyways! Cool stuff man.

Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians! We got a short balloon flight in yesterday so our pilot could keep his streak of consecutive months with flights going - 145 months which is a real feat here in northeast PA with our winter weather patterns. You just have to take the opportunities when you can and we went much deeper into March this year than we like to. Tony flew the Hopper - it's like sitting on a flying toilet with propane tanks underneath you. After a short flight we tethered to the truck so crew could have some fun, too.



We stopped at a local brewery pub on the way home from church last evening - Iron Hart Pub in Dalton, PA (actually in Benton Township right off of I81 exit 201). Good beer and food.

 

Thank you and Franklin county. We always just called them box turtles. Good eye!

Good morning all.

 

Yup, had this one stroll through the yard last summer. I was surprised at how fast it traveled.

 

My grandmother was wicked with a 410 pump, used it for turkey, deer, etc., just changed loads. Ammo is light, kick is small, weight is low, and not deafening.

The power came back on 3-1/2 hours later.
Light snow overnight here way up North. The sun isn't turned on very bright yet so it is still sitting out there.

May I offer my favorite way to make these and other little fish bites...

for some crunch, mix up some tempura better. Crush some crackers in it for a little more texture and flavor. Fry them in a shallow pan of canola oil.

For sauce, I like to mix whatever heat and flavor profile I'm going for with a bit of sour cream. Thickens it up some and you can dip them so your sauce goes further.

any who...I like food...wanted to share that.

 

Yea next time I'm going to batter them. I've cooked shrimp before but been awhile. I was pleased the way they came out but next time I'm gonna do it a bit different. I kinda just winged it this time.

 

Sure thing! Box turtles are cool too - you'll probably only see the Eastern box turtle where we live. I look at turtles for a living so it caught my eye. Beautiful area over in Franklin County. I love Michaux State Forest.

Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes bedside support brackets for a high clearance rear bumper? I though I saw someone somewhere but can't seem to find it again...
