Have you heated the knuckle? Obviously be really careful of the boot and other stuff in the area. If you're replacing the ball joint, put the nut back on until it's flush with the end of the threads and hit directly on it to drive it out

Tried heat. Didn't think about the nut until I already messed the threads up.

Generous coatings of PB blaster and let sit for a week, if you can. Maybe that will do it and maybe not. I have tried different things and found there really is no replacement for a pickle fork, though you may tear the boot. You can rent them from AutoZone for free. I wound up buying my own set which has one fork for as 3/8" air chisel and that thing is a life saver.

Good morning all. Little bit of rain here. Got the DD in the garage for a quick waxing. Also going to tackle cleaning up the work bench since my son moved out, maybe now it will stay clean lol.

Take the knuckle off and press it out, soak in Kroil for a couple days and then heat it up right before it's time to press it out. During the pressing, give a few "shock loads" with a ball peen hammer as pressure is applied.

It ALMOST makes me wanna go out for a run. Emphasis on the almost part. I’ll live vicariously through my wife on that part.
As usual, just rained here. the storms usually split off when they cross the mountains between Berks/Montco

Got a front end service kit today the ball joint separator tool was no dice. New tuning fork with a pissed off mini sledge and it finally gave. My buddy messed up the inner wheel seal trying to drive it in. So it is still sitting. What is the best way to get them in square and not bend them? It is such thin metal it doesn't take much. I'll get parts at noon tomorrow and start again. Got the other side done, but didn't have to replace the hub on that side. At this point everything is reassembling mostly new stuff so it shouldnt be too bad. I have to bend a little z shaped line for the new caliper which should be the only issue. Then to wire the cap. Get it realigned and hope to pass inspection.

Old timers would put it in the freezer to shrink it ? Then maybe she will go in easier , square even blow with socket or piece of wood to ensure even pressure. May want to use some lube. Good luck and keep us posted.

Got a piece of steel with a bolt to pull it through flat. Thought about a piece of PVC since it'll be about 3" diameter and I dont have a socket.

Nice. I've used pvc coupling to set my needle bearing. However it doesn't take much to boger up the pvc. U need some device to even the pressure.

I'd just use the old seal to drive it, otherwise a 2x4 and a steady hand to get it started even is key. Make sure you add some grease to the garter spring so it doesn't go a flying.

Spotted a hawk today shopping for lunch in the back field
