Good morning PA. Did you enjoy your extra hour of sleep as much as me? The internal clock is still on the same schedule though.

That’s the way to do it. Just cover the top so you don’t accumulate leaves, etc. Leave the sides open to circulate air and dry out .They’re meant to be outdoors in all weather. Think of heat pump outdoor units. How would they operate if covered?

Yeah. I've got a heat pump. It runs in the winter if the outside temperature is above 35 degrees. I have seen it covered in ice or 8 inches of snow, but when the temperature rises, it kicks on and runs, eventually ridding itself of the ice and snow.

Covering it all may cause condensation effecting the unit. We had our first one that came with the house 22 years and just replaced everything last year. AC, furnace and I hope I get close to that again.
Cover top and dropped a bit down the sides each year.

Decide to have some traditional food today. Our own dried sausage, dried and aged sopressata, our roasted peppers with lots of garlic and olive oil, more on that below, one of the cheeses I make every couple months. Didn’t have time to make the bread which we do as well normally.
The olive oil comes from my uncles in Italy. It’s green not gold since it’s a first fresh press, no filtering or added anything. Two of my uncles have olive orchards and still make it each year and send tins to us each year. Cost a bit to deliver but we send them cash in return. Intense flavor, nothing you can find here.

Relatively, and I haven't posted too much yet. I'm new to PA also, and am enjoying it so far. As long as it doesn't get cold, I think I'll really like it here...

Welcome to the Commonwealth. Life long resident here. Plenty of history here. If you are a professional sports fan, you will like it. Regarding the weather, everything is relative, depending on where you came from. In southwestern PA the winters aren't bad. I just watched a winter weather forecast on a local news. 45-50 inches of snow this winter, with about 10 of those 3 or more inches.

I'm not a big fan of cold weather, but I do look forward to being able to ski- there are a bunch more places to go than I originally thought. Any recommendations?

Some others may be more knowledgeable than me on this subject. I am not a skier but years ago I use to take a church youth group to Seven Springs and Hidden Valley in the western part of the state. If I recall, Seven Springs had steeper, faster slopes, Hidden Valley was more family friendly. I know there is a place in NY and another in WV that are well known. I would bet there are some great places in the Poconos.

Good morning all! Foggy as all get out this morning. I kept thinking my face shield was fogging up so I rode with it open only to discover it was just that foggy.

Ski Roundtop is located fairly close to me. I don't ski but have been there snow tubing a few times. Nice facility.
