I will assume you are not allergic to bee stings. It can be life threatening to some people.

Never had a reaction before. However I have a lot of allergies. These bees seem to ignore me. Guess I'm not a threat to them. I'm still about 5 feet to 7 feet away.

I have gone into anaphylactic shock twice from getting stung by yellow jackets. Honey bees, from my experince, aren't aggressive. I don't know if they are when protecting the queen, in a swarm like this. Mark?

That's the way my step son gets rid of them. Dig them up and then light them up with gasoline. Me? I use Sevin dust. I'm constantly on the lookout for those suckers. Last summer, there was a nest in the ground, just under my wife's bed of cacti,, which I hate almost as much. Every grass cutting season my eyes are glued to the ground, looking for their hole. I have seen them take over old abandoned mole tunnels. They prefer the south or west side of the yard, where the sun shines the most, and also, never at the edge of the woods -always in the open ground where the sun can hit.

Honey bees gathered around the queen. Have a grounds supervisor who is also a bee keeper and learned more about honey bees then I should know. He has hives home and created some at work along with a pollination field. I Get some great honey from it, spring, summer and fall. All different colors and taste depending on what’s available to the bees that time a year but all good. When they swarm however, well let’s say that’s a different problem. He keeps his bee suit with him all the time just in case.

They still must be looking for a good hive location - she must have fallen off the branch as the weight shifted and the rest followed her. It's not really protection, they just all live to serve the Queen. Kinda like marriage. :D:rofl:

lol. For me, I am better off not seeing that many bees in one place. I’ll walk the other direction.
