You talking the Bear Mountain that's right up the road from Forksville? If so, my buddies cabin is up on the mountain there.

Morning all, tried mowing the lawn at my old house yesterday and got about 3/4 of it done when I threw my belt. Mower isn't working quite properly either all of a sudden, hard to drive it straight and if there's even a slight incline, forget it. Super frustrating. Put the belt back on and tried to keep cutting, made maybe 2 passes and it was rattling around making all kinds of noise. Shut the blades off and the belt blew off again, along with the tensioner spring haha. Hopefully going to take it somewhere where they know what they're looking at cause I need it fixed ASAP. Now I gotta call someone to come cut my lawn at the new place probably. :mad:o_O:frusty:

Mowers, I occasionally have problems with them too... :frusty:

    KIMG1688.jpg

Piece of tree took off the valve stem -
way up in the woods -
    on a steep hillside -
it was an @$$ kicker lugging tools & tires back and forth :bananadead:

    KIMG3078.jpg

Hit a small (Gibraltar size apparently) rock lurking beside the road.

    KIMG1677.jpg

    Always tires... :annoyed:

    KIMG3079.jpg

Then there is that "funny noise"...

    KIMG2119.jpg

    ...and the occasional blade...

That is just what I had handy photos of...
Mowers and I have a long and colorfully worded history.

Probably 85% of the problems are with the cutter deck: Bent, broken, rusted out, bad bearings, belts, spindles, spindle housings, broken springs - never ending.
10% tires and then "other incidents" like sticking a zero turn in the mud so bad I used a Jeep Cherokee to pull it out.

One of the most inconvenient "episodes" was hitting a steel cable dog tie out -- ever notice that most of them are green? Grass is green too... :(

In tall grass the cable lurked there stealthy and waiting to be sucked up like the retracting cord on a Hoover vacuum cleaner by the 42" mower deck - it did figure 8's around the blades and spindles stalling the engine in a split second.

I ran the mower half up on the trailer ramp and lay under there on a 90 degree day with a screwdriver for about 30 minutes unraveling the mess -- bleeding and swearing with tremendous sincerity the entire way.

Holy shit hahaha, that sounds like an awful time. I've almost done the same but I knew where the cable was laying, so I was extra careful near it. It was just down in the grass enough that the blades didn't touch it :amen:

I never went to prom either. I was actually banned from going. But apparently from I heard I didn't miss much.

I didn't make any prom either. Was too much of a shy guy back in the day. Those who know me today would find that hard to belive. :p I remember there was a handful of us who, on the night of the senior prom, had a keg party up in the woods with a bonfire and Led Zeppelin blasting on the boom box. It wasn't a bad Friday night. That was back when you could do those kind of things and not end up a juvenile deliquent. o_O

I've heard stories from my uncles up in PA from their younger days. Shocked they all didn't die from some of the stuff they got into up in the mountains.

I got some of the stuff and a road map for the rest...
    Beautiful bar!

We were going heavy with Maker's Mark at the South Pole one night and found out the hard way that the wax looking stuff on the top isn't really wax. We were melting it and dripping it on each other and oh man did it hurt! We fondly referred to the scars it left as "Maker's Marks."

One guy had to go to the Dr because of it. He was a Kiwi plumber with a stub for a pinky (de-gloved accident not related to this story...) and he wanted that "wax" dripped on his stub...it got infected of course.

    Good times in a Jamesway!
