Grandson is tricking and treating tonight. The wife and I join him and his friends, even as they get older. One of the kid's parents host a nice catered meal, then off we go. Never been much of a trick or treat fan (I eat more candy now then when I was young) but I want to support him. So, we will walk in a big groups - kids, their siblings and parents, for hours. I'm going to need the coat tonight.

We have a guy at my work that does that. He says between the OT and wage it works to his benefit.

:pccoffee:  PA peeps/wannabes/job seekers. I'm permanently off the market but I still recall the difficulty finding the right job when I was unemployed. It's a tough row to hoe.

I hear that. My last few jobs were on teams that worked 24x7x365. We had three shifts plus people working weekends. One guy was pretty far from great at his job, and he didn't take on extra stuff that came to the team. The manager wasn't a fan of him. BUT. He took the overnight shift, and he showed up every night, and although he didn't shine, neither did he screw anything up. He knew when to pick up the phone and call someone rather than try to blunder through. I told my manager that the guy was valuable just because of those qualities.

calling off and using sick time the company offers is something that every employee should use to their full benefit. Anybody who leaves hours on the table for the company to absorb is a sucker. “Mental health day” ;)

I agree to an extent. But, people have figured out how to abuse the system as we don't really have a set amount of sick says...

we get a set amount of sick each year and can carry over, but the overtime hours list goes by lowest asked, so I use sick times on scheduled days to work an overtime or double time day. I’d imagine if a company gave us infinite sick days there’d be no requirement for me to ever show up

I wish I still had my cdl. That would of opened up alot of job offers. I didn't keep up with it and was downgraded to a regular class c license back in 2015. I'd have to take the test all over again. I'm a terrible test taker. Took me 6 times till I passed the written test. Driving test was a walk in the park.

I would if I didn't have animals to take care of. Unfortunately I have 2 dogs and 6 snakes to care for.

Plenty of other State jobs open with kick tail benefits just saying. Not the highest pay depending on classification, but steady work, union protections, annual, holiday and sick leave. Good retirement. Good luck.

I’m not 100% sure but I think now days to get a CDL you need like 2400-2500 hours of class room with some that being driving time for a class A /I THINK SOME of the big trucking companies work with the feds to get drivers CDL’s
