I mean, yes? Taxes are specifically supposed to be for the greater good. To fix the federal interstate highway bridge it makes sense that federal money would be used, does it not?

I do not and will not ever have children, but I pay school taxes. I've never had a fire break out at my house, but my taxes benefit local fire companies. I might not have ever been in a plane, but my tax dollars fund the FAA who do their damndest to make sure we have safe skies. It's possible that private companies would increase bandwidth in rural areas out of the good of their hearts (no it isn't), but federal tax dollars sure sweeten the pot, right?

What I'm saying is, too much "me me me" and not enough "us" in this country today.

Same and since I don't have health insurance I have to pay the good ol state of New Jersey 750$ every year even though I haven't been to the doctors in 10+ yrs. Make it make sense
But if I land this new job I'll be getting health insurance through them.

New jersey charges people if they don't have health insurance. Correction irs through the state of NJ will hit you with a fee. You know so it can go to the illegals so they can get free health care.

So I work in a questionably regulated industry that employs a lot of questionably employable people. All of them pay taxes.

Now who they're actually paying taxes as? I'm really not sure.

If they're working under the table they're no bigger of a drain on the system than an American working under the table.

I know many of them pay taxes the only difference is they can't collect it at the end of the year. It's not like we get much back anyways.

They should cover the cost of a rebuild or new construction, but if a company is at fault then they should foot the bill. If I go out tomorrow and smash into a utility pole on a federal highway, my insurance covers the cost of the linemans labor and parts, not the federal government. I also don't plan to ever have children and I pay plenty in taxes, but to flat out say the taxes are used to cover a private company's mistake is just wrong.

Sounds like it's time for an HSA, I haven't been in like 20 years lol. I sock that money away each year and many companies allow you to invest that money with the interest being tax free...as well as deduct the contribution from your federal income taxes.

I'm not arguing the company should pay. I'm arguing that the Government should operate like your insurance company would if the other driver's insurance isn't playing ball. They're going to cover your costs then sue the other company. Why? Because making things whole to you as fast as possible is the requirement of the insurance.

Father just told me that in Pennsylvania that it's already enrolled in your taxes if you don't have health insurance. So you won't owe anything every pay check it's taken out.
Something new jersey should in place. Instead of doing your taxes the state sending you back your taxes than sending you a fine.

maybe I misread your original post then, and I go back and yes I did haha. I thought you were insinuating the company was not at fault or having to pay.
