what’s involved with an annual service? Other than changing air filter these units are pretty much run to maintenance.

I'm not sure. They come in the Spring and do some things. I know they finish up by using the hose. It is a heat pump. My HVAC company has an annual charge that covers one maintenance visit for the heat pump and one in the Fall for the furnace, plus a discount if repairs are needed. Luckily, no repairs yet, after over 8 years.

Rheem & Carrier are the only units I install. Never had a problem with them after 40 years.

My Rheem water heater is 46 years old. They don't make them like that anymore.

Goodman is better after Amana bought them, but are still considered "low end".

Leaving my house at 730 to meet up with my brother to go shooting. He's bringing out his socom and ar15. It's a outdoor range down by the base. I think he said it goes out to 100yrds.

I took my dog out early for her walk. She's still limping from falling off the couch a few weeks ago, but much better. Anyway, I came upon about 6 vultures feasting on a dead raccoon. They scattered as I drove by. I know they serve a purpose but I hate the looks of these small headed creatures.

When I use to drive the garbage truck I'd walk up to a trash can they would do a stand off with me. They'd spread their wings out like this is my can. I'd throw my gloves at them and grab the can. Pesty bastards.

All season mats, 2nd filter delete, DT header, Jardine cat-back, URD shifter, Bilstein 5100's all around at .85 front with Eibachs + .25 passenger/.5 drivers spacers and 1.5 AAL, 0w20 synthetic, Scanguage II, extra D rings, OEM backup camera+Mirror, bed mat, Extang Solid Fold, Popnlock 5300, Pro Comp 7089's 4.5bs 285/70/17 Revo 2s, De-badged
Yes I agree with a lot of that. I just built a home in NS 3 years ago 3300 sqft and so went with a 3 ton ducted but propane backup. Daikin was the best option for me this time around and I can't complain how it's worked at all. Although I made the duct in my shop and did it as custom as possible to work in the house it was not much different to a normal 2 level+basement.
Fact is for us these days we have the same issues with most units from every brand. Some a little more than others but we have seen failure from all brands we sell. The best brands are the easiest to help and actually have a legitimate warranty that doesn't turn into a wild chase and losing money. For instance Gree has been by far the worst warranty company to deal with for us and it's not even close. We stopped selling them and don't even use them as an option in the apartment building we do which the builder just wants cheapest available.
I've had 5 houses myself now and like I said own a company that had installed thousands and in the end my best advise is always to buy a decent system but not the most expensive or "best available". By the time you start really having it make financial sense the technology is already leaped past you to where there's better options. I mean hell my unit only goes on propane a few times all year for heating and we have some cold temps sometimes. Not like the mid west US but we see -5 and -10 C often

No gas or oil backup? Heat pumps have become a lot more efficient, but I would rather NOT have a heat pump anywhere north of Virginia Beach…

Only three tons in a 3,300 square foot house?!?! Around here (Southeast PA), that’s a 5-ton if the house only has one unit. Most houses around here over 3,000 square feet have two systems. For example, my parents’ house has a 2.5-ton for the 1st floor and a 2-ton for the second floor…

They're a thing around here. It's actually what I'm going to replace mine with once the old Coleman unit shits the bed. Oil boiler will stay in service for extremely cold days. Lets face it, winter in PA is not near what it used to be.

My girlfriend’s neighborhood was built primarily in the 1950s, and the next door neighbor’s house has a York Stellar from 1985 that is still going strong!

Yes we sent it to do a heat loss calculation and it would have been 4 ton if electric backup but with the propane it knocks it down to 3 and uses propane a bit more. Keep in mind our houses don't use as much AC as a place in a crazy warm climate but the other day we were +36c feels like 42 with humidity and my system ran perfect all day. It's a lot to do with your duct sizing and how well your house is insulated as well. I have R29-32 walls throughout my house and 60-70 attic. Also sealed up every crack in the framing with silicone before insulation/drywall and ended up hitting some pretty low leakage numbers. I was considering spray foam insulation and at the time could have had a good price on it but I decided on spray foaming the basement walls only and doing the rest in R24+R5 boards outside.
